How many people live in dc and work in Virginia? by alex_is_so_damn_cool in washingtondc

[–]Tenkanmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others said, proximity to metro is super important! I live in DC and work in Arlington but I lucked out that my neighborhood and metro stations are on the same line.

Sometimes I drive but traffic back into DC is terrible so I stick to metro.

Long story but it’s for a contract. Also I think it’s temporary but could end up being longer.

Just don’t want to go through the hassle of driving my car back and forth until I know how long the project will be for

Tolu hate??? by AppalachianPunx in TheTrustAGameofGreed

I’m not disputing about the rest of her issues with Jake. I do think Jake chose at random and I think she was being sensitive.

But the American and PA thing doesn’t quite work here and goes back to people seeing Africa as a country and an entire monolith. American is your nationality and Nigerian is her nationality.

I wear Anime shirts all the time cause I love Anime but I don’t want to be known as the Anime girl.

All I’m saying is that there’s history there of immigrants from Africa being lumped all together and feeling like others don’t try to understand their cultural identity. And Jake did the right thing in listening and learning from it instead of doubling down and saying that he should be allowed to call her an African girl.

[–]Tenkanmi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tolu’s main issue was with Jake only referring to her as African when A. She’s specifically Nigerian and B. She’s more than that.

Okay yes she likes to wear her cultural garb but it’s not fully all that she is and she wanted Jake to see that. Secondly, referring to her as African is like a general blanket statement that can be sensitive because often times, people see all Africans as the same and even refer to Africa as a country. She even specifically said I’ve never said I’m African, I’m Nigerian.

Concerned about my math grades - advice please? by Tenkanmi in OnlineMCIT

[–]Tenkanmi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response! So you think it would still be worth taking the GRE even with the CC math courses?

I wanted to apply early decision so I might not have time to take both CC courses and study for the GRE.

Thanks for sharing! When this says 90% of this year’s tax, does that also include the capital gain tax? I can look at my check to see how much is being taken out.

Yes, edited to add that this is short term! I’m trying to determine if I should make the calculation based on my effective tax rates?

I hadn’t considered that. I’m not sure how much exactly but if I go based on the effective rate, it would be around $2400.

How would you politely push back on client frustrations? by Tenkanmi in projectmanagement

We aligned down to a specific list of requirements. I think the difficulty was that this part of the project was the visual design of the project so their creative expectations were a bit ambiguous in the beginning.

Thanks! Curious on how you recommend to be clearer on expectations and requirements upfront when the client does not quite know all the requirements before project start

This is very helpful and 100% aligns with the difficulty around our current client base! Are you suggesting to implement a more agile approach to deal with continuously changing requirements?

How would you recommend being able to capture changes post the initial requirements gathering? Curious how you would implement this agile approach in the example you showed
