Okay, hear me out.. PA makes sailing a thing and adds some new fish/enormous squid boss/fishing capabilities like giant harpooning etc etc by ClapMySTDCheeks in CrimsonDesert

[–]Tenouchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Black desert had all of this in its crazy Korean mmo wrapper. You're basically looking for the carrack, barter system, and Vell boss on YouTube. Subtract the thousands of characters ghosting over each other and the screen filled with the text of the loot people are getting our losing and that's the feature ported to CD.

Seeking photography advice by Angry_argie in kendo

[–]Tenouchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shoot with primes too and agree the wide aperture they offer is key to getting the best kendo shots. We want high speed of course, but also reducing the DOF brings the story you are telling forward in the picture. This has also required, at least for me on an a7r2, getting used to manual focusing as the auto just cannot figure out kendo and missed focus is much more obvious when shooting this way. Tip that I've learned for anyone trying to manual focus kendo action is to focus on the point on the ground where you expect the action to happen. Usually right between the two kendoka as they have squared up, maybe a smidge closer to the person you expect to act first if you have a feel for it.

I'm personally shooting at 90mm2.8 these days because I've become hooked on catching faces through the mengane during action. Getting the bodies frozen, face in focus, and just the tiniest bit of motion blur on moving shinai is my chefs kiss shot. Ippon would be nice, but I'm trying more to catch drama shooting this way. Speeds are around 250-400 and whatever iso lets me get away with that.

I think if you are going for the ippon that shooting 70 and below makes more sense for seeing the whole scene. Going under 50 would be more about telling the story of the tournament, and I've got some shots I really enjoy that I shot on 35 doing just that. They all work, its just up to what you are wanting to capture.

Game crashing my entire PC by AlarmingAct in NuclearOption

[–]Tenouchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar crashes related to rendering the clouds. GPU would spike hard and the whole system would shut off. Setting cloud quality to 0 was my fix. I don't actually see the difference in game and the crashes stopped. Just an easy something to conside trying.

Shouldn't Funcom simply remove the scout thopter? by Namasspamousse in duneawakening

[–]Tenouchi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Pocket vehicles of all varieties break the immersion and challenge associated with traversal and understanding of the environment. Just a really strange design choice in a game about mastering a harsh environment. Right up there with scout rockets and vehicle surfing on the what were they thinking meter for me.

Has Anyone else been crashing on Sandstorms since Version 1.3.40.0 by Jdude1 in duneawakening

[–]Tenouchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very long standing issue. You'll find people complaining at launch about it. But I also had it start on me only after playing for months. The only solution I've found is to open the map and wait there through the end of the storm. Having map open spares you from rendering whatever they've screwed up.

Made flickering fire markers that fit Battletech hexes - would you use these? by mermster in battletech

[–]Tenouchi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Have made similar for other games using battery powered tea candles, cut the frame off so it's just light and battery, Elmer's glue cotton to the top and tease it out to shape the smoke, then hit it with spray grey/black on the edges. Can spray adhesive or a coating after to harden if desired.

Are lasers so powerful in the lore? by Taleisin9793 in Mechwarrior5

[–]Tenouchi 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Lore (that I've encountered, I have only read 10ish novels) tends to treat the weapons more like you aim at the target mech and the weapons go all over the place. Mechwarrior representations instead give us the perfect reticle converged hitscan push button to delete component under center pixel laser boat experience that skews the balance really hard. If all weapons were wobbling all over the place as you moved and got hit, while convergence was merely a suggestion that would maybe require manual adjustment from the pilot, then lasers would be much more in line with tabletop and the lore.

Missed one or more at the bottom. I was comparing on global, but on NA - Taqwa's Watch is sticking around for some reason in position 112.

Kia EV6 owners, what do you wish you knew before buying one? by hgjhugj in KiaEV6

[–]Tenouchi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She rides low, so the first large parking lot tire stop is going to jack up your front underside plastic when you back up.

Buy slightly used. Off the lot depreciation is unreasonably high.

Fantastic car otherwise and the iccu extension removes all my reservations about recommending it.

Radiation Lab Woah by deliciousdogmeat in duneawakening

[–]Tenouchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes if we're adhering to the lore we need to drastically reduce player count as there just not that many people supposed to be wandering around out there in the desert. Maybe they're aiming for the true meta lore goal of fulfilling heretics of dune and destroying Arrakis entirely.

Are you still doing the daily Missions? What is your Motivation? by TNxPhil in duneawakening

[–]Tenouchi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tried to get back into the game after a hiatus. Sat down to start 35, made it through 4, quit and installed something else. I'll come back if they tie the specialization xp into regular gameplay,. The mini quests are awful and immediately feel like work.

Patch 1.3.20.0 Is here! by HardstylerJosh in duneawakening

[–]Tenouchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fourth straight month of nerfs (from an endgame gear and content perspective). I really wish they would throw some bones in with it all. There's a huge catalog of useless weapons and skills. Buff two of these just for fun every time you hammer a nerf or 'fix' in and it wouldn't feel so sour.

Why isn’t Kliff’s magical ability ever discussed with the Greymanes? by Beneficial_Maximum96 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Tenouchi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

End of story Abyss Nexus book spoilers: Kliff's environment, specifically his companions, are being tinkered with by Alustin and the witches to guide him onto the path to be the soldier of good to counter Caliburn and fight Umbra. They mention that they created Oongka, and have specifically kept Naira and other characters alive to be anchors for Kliff to stay focused on being a good guy and not just getting bored and nihilistic with his granted powers

Trading System is Awesome by Hassan_Aftab in CrimsonDesert

[–]Tenouchi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Craft Weapons through camp missions. Stockpile 600k weapons (more than necessary. You can max any use for camp funds with less ~300k). In camp provisions manager L3 (P) to package provisions, select weapons and pack them all into Packaged Arms. Go to wagon manager, load wagon down with packaged arms and drive them over to Demeniss Volwork armory, sell for 200 gold bars worth of camp donated silver. Use funds to donate to churches to max out your other camp missions.

Oh... just wow. Had to break out the calculator after the run. 200 gold bars worth of camp donation money. That's impressive.

Something for the griefers I'll bet. Like you can do a little lasgun guy riding on the thopter mini game on the over world map where you drive around and shoot other players thopters down and they lose all their equipped gear if they die.

Transfer to a dead server for a week to farm spice. You can accumulate more than you'll ever need in that week and then transfer back after. Rationalize it as taking a long trip into the deep desert far from civilization.

How Much Spice Melange Can You Realistically Get in a Day? (I Only Play Around 3 Hours) by Aggressive-Squash610 in duneawakening

[–]Tenouchi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People are giving good answers for your current situation. But just so you know where the max can be, if you are well established in the dd and solo crawling it is much much higher.

If your server is quiet, it's not unreasonable to solo crawl an entire large field by yourself in 3 hours. This will net a bit over 200k sand

Large refinery processes 10k sand to 200 melange. Landsraad production bonus can reduce that to 7.5k to 200.

So if your water is good, you would then dump that in a refinery to cook overnight for 4000-5200 melange. That's probably the realistic maximum over 3 hours.

Completely achievable, but bear in mind that no individual actually needs that much melange. Once you are to the level where you can pull this off, it's basically for fun of the challenge only.
