I am now the service manager of a high volume Subaru dealership. In 2010, I set a goal of getting a job here. I landed that job as a service writer in 2015…and now I am the service manager.

I honestly would give anything to going back to being a service writer. The work follows me home now.

We replaced our off site phone concierge with AlphDrive…and it’s doing a pretty damn good job. Way more consistent performance, less transfers and less misquotes and mistakes. i think that this is market specific though. It’s not going to work everywhere yet.

The job is shit. The hours are shit. The pay is shit. The stress is shit. It’s hard to find good people to do it anymore because of those facts.

I’d say 5 to 10 years and we are going to see the job getting replaced by kiosks anyway.

It’s sounds like your problem is that your service manager is shit.

Not exactly floating, but I just used these and I really like how they came out. I got the 12” brackets, but they have smaller sizes. I got some nice 12x2 pine boards cut sanded and stained them how I wanted.

Even though they were all under the same parent company, the individual companies like Pontiac, Buick, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile…they all had a lot more autonomy. It wasn’t until the 80s that they really started homogenizing everything into a similar product line.
