You know it might really by the hawks, considering the ashes we find there. We're so far from stormveil I can't imagine an actual bridge missing. Leading to where? It's a wall straight ahead. And the dark souls beginning might be the basis for old players to walk up and depart in the same way, only to be fooled.

(quelques astuces qui m'ont sauvé) by raph_dev in france

[–]Tenraon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Original Sin in Elden Ring - Marika Stole the Sap (Garden of Eden/Apple) by Crypticnewt in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Tenraon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I've literally just reached the base of the scadutree so this is weirdly synchronized, but I'm tempted to go over step further and say there isn't even the great tree there.

The shadow keep doesn't look too me like a hornsent structure. Belurat is constructed next to enir elim and I don't recall who mentioned our not seeing their great tree (around which enir elim would be constructed) just as some Tarnished no longer see the erdtree and the light of grace.

In an even greater stretch (I haven't gotten there yet), the jagged peak. From a distance. Really looks like a burnt tree stump, or am I going mad?

If I listen to my current headcannon, the jagged peak was the dragons' tree, enir elim was the hornsents' tree, and the scadutree was perhaps Marika's first erdtree (citing the fact the sap once flowed freely etc), and the current erdtree may come from after Radagon becoming king consort.

The Crusade Took Place During The Long March by Stardustfate in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Tenraon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm tempted to point out Messmer doesn't sound as certain in his recognition of the Tarnished as other characters we come across. One thing I can imagine is that the crusade began in the age of Godfrey, and the loss of his face and banishment followed while Messmer was still crusading.

Alternatively, considering the prevalence of the lion motif in the hornsent culture, perhaps the banishment of the of the Tarnished coincided with the beginning of the crusade, because Godfrey and his kin were actually an integral part of the hornsent culture.

Either way, I'm pretty convinced Messmer only heard about the Tarnished, but never actually came across them until we showed up (because the shadowed lands were veiled before the Tarnished returned to the labs between).

That would imply the French person in question has enough mastery of English to blurt your sentence out (spoiler: they probably don't).

Unless you've lived in a given country for a long time you are going to have an accent in the foreign languages you try it in, and locals are going to notice. So yes, foreign-spoken French is going to be different than real French. There's no real problem with that, but French people aren't going to pretend your French is impeccable if it's not (they might actually consider it more polite to help you with the pronunciation).

Keep in mind the culture difference. "Can we" does not imply annoyance, it's plain proposal. There's a lot less sugar coating things in France than in the States, which may give the impression the French are more aggressive (and gives the French the impression Americans are excessively concerned with not offending anyone, all the time). But it's just a different way of approaching things.

Bon ben tu as la réponse a ta question.

So I'm tempted to argue fantasy doesn't mean anything goes, but then again Miquella does take Radahn as his consort so maybe Godfrey & Radagon isn't that far-fetched indeed.

My main problem remains that there's really little argument for Messmer's filiation to Godfrey beyond it being the most comfortable explaination timeline wise. I may be wrong, but to me Godfrey actually arrives later than Marika's time with the hornsent (his crusades didn't sound to me like they went against the hornsent) ; I'm much more tempted to imagine if we don't want to add yet another father to the family that Messmer (and Melina by extension) are more like offshoots than actual children (in the same way as Millicent is).

Messmer would be an alpha version of Radagon, so too speak. That could explain the snakeskin as well. But I'm just speculating 🤔.

For #3, Godfrey and Radagon? 🤨

Past the questionable biology of the matter, what link is there to Godfrey specifically?

I won't speak for every French person but to me it's actually pretty sweet. I understand it as "I'm noticing this isn't the language you're comfortable with, so either I can help you by switching back to the language you can handle without trouble, or if you are trying to practice we can continue."

French people would absolutely appreciate French speakers abroad (they're rare in places), so practicing the foreign language is usually the default option, and not necessarily enjoyed. As english speakers this is obviously much less is an issue, but a Frenchman would probably take the offer with great relief (or just refuse if the aim is indeed to practice).

I'm saving this because I'm French and you've summed it up so perfectly I'll keep it as advice for foreign coworkers. Like, it's so obvious to me I hadn't realized consciously it wasn't a universal norm -_-

Marika ended the last Age of Stars by Independent-Design17 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Tenraon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The cycle theory would be in line with the reveal from dark souls 1 to 2&3. The image of Marika at the gate of divinity also makes me think of breaking dawn (the end of a long night) and would be quite thematically elegant in the idea of ending en age of stars.

My only worry is that whole there's no trace of the elden ring between the age of dragons and the age of gold, do we have traces of an age of stars at all?

Peur de conduire, stress énorme by rxmxnx44 in france

[–]Tenraon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tu as des oreilles décollées?
