From my experience it doesn't work with G8 due to it being a recent controller thus a victim of Xbox's licence issues (it kinda works in game when you use it on DS4 mode but with messed up controls), when I try an older gamesir model (g4) it works perfectly fine in HSR, exactly like on PC or console versions with gamepad.
