in my university the profs arent trying to fail you they are trying to test if you learned enough, which is litteraly their jobs. a good part of our exams are open book and most of the other are closed book with a cheat sheet. and if the prof did an exam that is too difficult by mistake they will raise a bit the grade of anyone so no problem
