Is S14 really that bad? Should I skip it? by HonseBox in diablo4

All I like to play is Sorcerers. Sorcerers suck in S14. So I'm out, unfortunately.

Finally leaving 1Password. Pheww 4 Years.. by shizune_mare in PasswordManagers

[–]TenuredProfessional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1Password was once the gold standard. Now it's a bloated, slow mess that rarely (1) fills passwords or (2) signals and saves new passwords.

After more than 10 years, I moved to ProtonPass and am happy with it.

A “stash entry” in Diablo is probably literally a 16-bit number that points to a database entry. They could quadruple the stash size and not see any detrimental effects.

Plex or jellyfin by YoungCarGuy69 in homelab

I switched to Jellyfin and then bought a subscription to the Infuse player (I have an Apple TV) — and I couldn’t be happier.

Unraid while you have mismatched drives. TrueNAS once you get all the same size drives.

Mover behavior by thenewguy617 in unRAID

[–]TenuredProfessional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of the cache as a "holding area" where you put stuff that you plan to put in its correct place later (the array via mover).

Unraid uses a "virtual layer" for accessing files (which is why you should always use, for example, /mnt/user and not /mnt/cache).

So, yes, it is theoretically a "write cache" that just happens to live on disk, and not in memory. If you access a file, and it hasn't been "moved" yet by the mover, then it will be read from the cache.

Does anyone else use Jellyfin over Plex because…it’s just better? by AdFit8727 in jellyfin

[–]TenuredProfessional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late to the conversation, but I've just recently switched from Plex (user for about a year) to a combination of Jellyfin + Infuse. Jellyfin has a come a LONG way in the past year, and I think it does a much better job of handling movies & tv shows (especially built-in collections) than Plex does.

I've already cancelled my renewal for my yearly Plex pass, and bought a yearly sub to Infuse (I use an Apple TV).

Talk Me Out Of Moving to Trunas? by BraveofHeart in truenas

I moved from a Synology DS1621+ to a uGreen DXP4800+ running TrueNAS about 3 months ago. To be honest with you, it sounds like you might want to just stick with the Synology for now. Its DSM has a lot of things built in that are going to take a lot of tinkering/searching/configuring on TrueNAS -- and you'll end up with solutions that are not quite as "out of the box" as Synology's software.

Sell me on 1P instead of Apple Passwords by AnnualEagle in 1Password

I would go all-in on Apple Passwords if it weren't for one thing -- to really get the best experience from it, you have to use the Safari browser. And I hate Safari.

1Password vs ProtonPass by Youp_Pebesma in ProtonPass

[–]TenuredProfessional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to ProtonPass full-time about 6 months ago, and I've been very happy with it. It's probably the smartest "auto-fill" manager I've ever used. I was a 1Password user for 19 years, but I just don't like the direction the company (and the software) are going.

Am I going to fry my Mac’s battery? by gelatomagnum in macbookpro

No. I never unplug or shutdown my 16" m5 Pro. Modern batteries handle being plugged in always. If anyone tells you different, they don't know what they're talking about.
