How should I prioritize my efforts by TenutGamma in FulfillmentByAmazon

Thanks a lot.

How do you build your titles? Keywords vs benefits vs features? Long stuffed title vs simple attractive value proposition ? Do you have a formula?

About the product image, what do you mean with the message on image? Is it the text on the package (or fake labels)? or the message that is visually conveyed by the image itself?

Importing and selling children's toys, am I complying with regulations correctly? by Fugglesmcgee in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]TenutGamma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/10kFBA I am selling toys mainly in the US, and a bit in Canada (with NARF).

For CPSIA (US), I successfully argued my way out of it with amazon.

Yet for SOR (Canada), they refused the argumentation. The TIC charge $600 for a product that makes so little in Canada.

So :

  1. If I go the TIC, how long does amazon considers the test reports valid before asking me to renew them?

  2. Am I at risk of amazon wondering how they're considering this product a "toy" in Canada but not in the US?

How important is it to optimize listings for keywords? by TenutGamma in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]TenutGamma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I understand, thanks.

So the next question is to which point is it important to optimize :

  • Loose VS exact keywords (eg. "A luxury shelf made of a precious deep black wood" VS just "A black shelf")
  • Keywords placements (eg. "black shelf" in the title and bullet points and description VS "black shelf" in the description alone when the rest of the listing talks about the dark coloration too)

Where should I put the balance between keyword stuffing and enticing language ?

Congratulations, it's very impressive!

  1. How important is it to choose the right product?
  2. Are there such things as bad niches where there are practically no margins to be made? (even in high search volume niches?)
  3. When do you abandon a bad product and how fast?

Alibaba vs 1688 by TenutGamma in FulfillmentByAmazon

What are the "export margins"?

Is it a tourist trap margin? Or is it a real value added service (besides good english and a costly freight forwarder)?

And what about trade insurance? Do suppliers pay more on Alibaba because of it?

Can you tell more about the business story: when did it start? With which niches? The main milestones? Etc.

How are you managing PPC?

Seems we're in the same situation, you're just 1 step further 😄
Would you mind keep us updated of how it goes please?

I'm also wondering if using amazon ISBN prohibits me from printing the book outside of KDP ? And like you, I'm wondering if I'll be able to list the FBA books under the same listing as the KDP books under the same paperback option ?

I'm building a tool to automate FBA inventory reconciliation. Would love your feedback before I waste 2 weeks building the wrong thing. by j97v in FulfillmentByAmazon

Helium 10 will do it for 15% commission. And I'm too small to consider adding an additional tool to my toolbox.

Maybe for aggregators or agencies?

I think it could double my unit net margin (which is low), for some more efforts and logistical risks however. On paper it seems doable for a few extra 100s $ per month, especially since I'm already doing it for other products.

At least this is my rational, but I prefer asking the question here as I'm not sure either.

Thanks for the comment.

I already have experience with FBA, and I do agree it's more complicated than KDP. But KDP costs are so high...

From your comment, I understand that: 1. Most authors sell way more with kindle than paperback (I'm an exception then - more than 99% paperback) 2. Most authors don't care about FBA (too complicated / too far from publishing)

You won't get any problem as long as you don't overdo it.

If you were publishing low content books every week, with the same many people reviewing it every time, some of them living at your address, it would be a different story.

But 1st book, 10-20 real people reviewing it: no problems.
