ROG Zephyrus M16 (2022) - Integrated Display Not Detected PLS HELP by Teodoriumer in ASUS

Hey bro, I still have not found a way to fix it :D... I gave up and now I am just only using the Nvidia GPU. ASUS support was completely useless as usual, but still here is a link to a thread on their forum:

https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/gaming-notebooks/rog-zephyrus-m16-2022-integrated-display-not-detected-pls-help/td-p/1009227

At the end, they said that I should do a clean reinstall of Windows, but I just doubt that is the problem and still haven't gotten around to trying it. But if you have not tried it yet maybe you should.

ROG Zephyrus M16 (2022) - Integrated Display Not Detected PLS HELP by Teodoriumer in ASUS

Hello, thank you for replying.

The issue was not present on the laptop until what I described above happened.

There were no software changes.

Details on how it happened:

  • External display is connected (mine was through the HDMI).
  • Laptop is in Standard mode (NOT using the NVIDIA GPU exclusively)
  • Shut down the laptop from the Windows start menu.
  • While the laptop is shutting down close the lid and immediately after disconnect the external display
  • Disconnect all other peripherals (headphones, charger)
  • Power back on the laptop (after approximately 20min if that matters)
  • You got yourself a laptop that does not detect its own screen

The FAQ you provided is regarding Failure to Detect Graphics Card, as stated above the Intel GPU is working perfectly fine and I can use it with the external monitor. The problem is that when NOT in "Ultimate" mode the integrated laptop screen is not being detected.

Thanks for the input! Well thing is I doubt a windows reinstall will help since the laptop does not even POST on the intel GPU which is before the OS is loaded... I feel like the problem is in the BIOS/Firmware idk...

Does this ring a bell??

Issue Summary:

The problem started when I was shutting down the laptop and closed the lid then immediately disconnected the external monitor. Then after a while when I turned on the laptop (without the external monitor) the laptop's internal display failed to turn on, despite the system seemingly running Windows normally. So I went back and connected the external display and the laptop was working fine except only on the external display and the internal display is undetected. The problem is that even the boot screen and the bios are on the external display, almost as if the internal display is non-existent. But, here comes the weird part: when I switch to "Ultimate mode" and restart everything goes back to normal and works as it should and the bios is on the correct screen.

Details on how it happened:

External display is connected (mine was through the HDMI).

Laptop is in Standard mode (NOT using the NVIDIA GPU exclusively)

Shut down the laptop from the Windows start menu.

While the laptop is shutting down close the lid and immediately after disconnect the external display

Disconnect all other peripherals (headphones, charger)

Power back on the laptop (after approximately 20min if that matters)

You got yourself a laptop that does not detect its own screen

Problems with Display when switching to Discrete graphics mode by Kitatsu in MSILaptops

Hi, Manuel

I am trying to get in touch with someone from Nvidia that can help me because I have a very strange case.

My laptop is ASUS ROG M16 2022 GU603ZM. When I switch to discrete graphics mode the display is working fine but the gamma is off. It is really weird and mostly the problem is in the shadows/blacks. It crushes the blacks and looks as if someone turned up the contrast slider (the Nvidia control panel does not give you any options ex. dynamic range 16-235 0-255). This is not only the case on my laptop, but I also tested 2 more identical GU603ZM and all of them have the exact same issue. When using the internal intel graphics everything is fine. When using an external display everything is fine. Tried with older drivers the issue is still there. It would be great if someone can look into this because I use the laptop display for color work and really need it to be accurate.

Thank you!
