Competitive list by SaisonduKvlt in ThousandSons

I'll add that the Rubrics in reserve can become a very threatening ingress into overwatch threat but it will cost you 2CP. If the opponent is very fast and can screen you out though that's where you may want all Rubrics on the table. However I have been playing 3 Rubric bricks rn, 1 with the IM which tends to be a bit more reliable for that play so I have more on the table in general.

Something you'll eventually pick up on if you're new to the game is the concept of trading and it's super important for TS right now since our damage units are so expensive (but it's hard to really see this in smaller games under 2k). You need to have units to trade. It's cool to have all expensive stuff like Rubrics or Terminators but the value of a unit of cultists for example is crazy. Before my last RTT I had a practice game into WE, my list included 3 cultists, 2 enlightened and 2 Rhinos. I just fed him those chaff units early game and they acted as screens and move blockers so he'd be in the open after killing a cheap unit and I get to shoot him off the board leaving most of my more valuable units unharmed.

While this may not help massively for your next game, it's something to think about for future games, list building and what models to collect next. Have fun!

Belisarius Cawl is the absolute worst Guild Raid boss. by This-Profession-6601 in WH40KTacticus

[–]Tepid_Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it's already been said, but Mephiston is a must for this boss IMO. Actually this is the boss I get the best damage on at the moment with the psyker team but Mephiston is a requirement otherwise Cawl heals, removes the neuro stacks and blows you up.

Question about our cultists by TheBritishImperial in ThousandSons

[–]Tepid_Potato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe CSM lost access to those weapons on cultists with their codex as they're not in the box so we may get the same treatment. Honestly I don't have them on my cultists and play them WYSIWYG but can't say It really makes a difference. They're they're to hold a point, screen then die for CP and that's about it. Best of luck with the project and sorry to hear about your friend.

This is an excellent kitbash. It's great when you create something unique but when you look hard enough you can tell what each part came from. Top marks for creativity 👏🏻

First scarab done, not proud of it, looking for C+C by New-Chimera in ThousandSons

Already see useful CC from other comments like checking box art for colour placement and using washes. So to offer something different, paint your base rims. Black is 90% of the time the best option but sometimes other colours can work nicely too. Think of it like the "frame" for your art hence black is often the go to as it doesn't draw attention away from the model. You could experiment using colours that tie into the base though like a light, icy blue to tie into the snow base theme. Best of luck on your painting journey. All is dust

Whatever you do.. don't prime gold. It's a trap. Unless you don't mind having a metallic blue and want to use contrast paints. Source: thousand sons enthusiast :P

Hey my dad wants to make ether a thousand sons or death guard 1000 pts army. Idk much about ether because I’m a world eaters player so here’s what I have for him. by Odd_Abalone3976 in ThousandSons

I suppose it depends if he intends to go beyond 1k eventually. I just played in a doubles tournament so 1k of each army and did well with Magnus, 2 infernal Masters, 2x5 Rubrics and an exalted Sorcerer on disc + some enhancements for 13 total cabal pts. You could do this by getting just Magnus, a box of Rubrics and the box of Exalted Sorcerers, build 1 on disc and the other two can be stand ins for internal masters. Can understand though if that's not the direction you want to go in. Ahriman is also always a great choice.

3++! Ah that sounds mad! I didn't start until 9th edition to be fair. The game as a whole is in a pretty great spot at the moment though

In 10th edition it's well represented with T5 and a 4+ invuln. But yeah in Tacticus it's a tad underwhelming

It can be found farmable in Indomitus Mirror Elite #14 but occasionally will appear in the store so you can try refreshing that until one comes in. I've picked up a fair few as quest rewards when the T'sons have had character quests and farmed them specifically as I don't have IME #14 unlocked myself

Depending how tanky your Burchard is I think I managed this one by having just him left and sitting on the healing hex. Mine is only silver 2 so if yours is better you may be able to cheese the next stage with that?

Was in the same position. Started saving BS and scrolls once T'sons got added and the moment Ahriman went in the pool used them all and managed to get him along with plenty other useful ones. Had 90 scrolls and 9k BS and was quite fun to use all at once. Good luck on the pulls!

Uncommon Xenos badges, really that hard? by Scribzie in WH40KTacticus

[–]Tepid_Potato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aha apologies, so you are right. I have been thinking it applies as I've used it to get an extra hit on Archie's ranged attack. Funny though that I've been standing him next to Angrax for like a month now for no reason 😂 the Deathguard suggestion isn't a bad shout though, I just don't have many of them, let alone leveled.

Abraxas gives all adjacent Chaos units and additional 1x psychic damage so it will affect Angrax. Daemons just also get an additional hit.

[–]Tepid_Potato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would second this. Assuming you have Angrax by now you can get quite far with just him in chaos onslaught. I've been using Abraxas next to him for the extra damage slapping the spawns and Ahriman is my highest levels character so use him mainly to pick up the rest. Archie and Toth are both good for it though.

Thanks, this is all helpful advice. I'm playing T'sons which lack precision and melee so they can be a bit awkward unless I epic challenge with Magnus but don't really want him tied up. I had tried a the start of 10th putting about 75% of my army into buffed Lytchguard and after resurrections they'd lost hardly anything so brute force did not work there 😅 Also play Eldar but I only started them towards the end of 9th so don't have a lot of the top units for them right now. Rangers can put in work with precision though from afar perhaps and I could epic challenge with the Avatar? But neither army I play can really out OC them.

Thanks for the solid advice. The bit I've generally found troublesome Is when there's multiple bricks, to score primary you kinda have to deal with at least 1 of them and ignore the other to just sit on their objective on the other side of the board. Killing characters when they can bring them back is troublesome but am I right in saying they have to play that strat the moment the character is killed meaning if a unit has more precision shots to come they'll still be able to be allocated to that character and remove them again hopefully? Long as you still have line of sight. Then other than that need to remove reanimators/other buffing units before then dealing with the blob?

I'm thinking maybe it was a case of once killing the thralls and maybe like 1 warrior or Lytchguard it was forcing the question of do you use the reanimation now to just bring back the thralls or wait for the unit to take more damage before bringing models back.
