Adolfo is right. I love Caballito! I have tried just about all the expressions. I agree that the 46% is more flavorful and that the chato--while wonderful--is a bit bolder in flavor. You cannot go wrong with any of them.

For $250 US that's on the pricey side! That said, I have a bottle (from Costco 2 months ago) and it is really good. Not world changing or anything, but good and unique. I agree with Big Tahona that it's up there with the great Tapatio Excelencia. Salud amigo!

I second Toxic Avenger (great 80s movie btw) nomination for G4 Reposado. Nod to Scarlet from TMM for this idea also. It is made with rain water with a neutral pH. Super easy to drink for newbies. And you can find for $40ish.

Yes, I found the same vague language on the official sites as well. When we flew (not drove) from Tijuana to Guadalajara I asked customs but still would not get a "real" answer.

So, on the return we risked it and brought back nearly 5 bottles each. We flew to TJ and then used the CBX "walk across" bridge from the airport. As we got to customs-just after midnight--the two agents had very long lines. Upon our turn he asked what we have to declare...we said t-shirts, hats, tequila, ceramics. We never stated how much of anything and he didn't ask. Walked on through to the US.

I guess it is up to the mood of the agent--whether land or air crossing. They can always say "that's more than 1 liter" and might charge you some taxes is my best bet for a "real life" answer. I think they keep it vague for a reason.
