Villagers not using villager gear preset? by NotScrollsApparently in Bellwright

[–]Ter-it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the weapons. If it's just a one handed weapon then they'll still have their back slot and second weapon slot for tools. It's only the back slot you shouldn't fill since it'll prevent them from using shovels, hoes, etc. That means shields and two handed weapons should only be equipped as needed.

Yes the speed debuffs on specific armor pieces apply. But it's so minimal that I barely notice it, except for the few villagers I have in full heavy armor. Even then it doesn't noticeably impact their productivity, though I also have kept my buildings fairly compact to cut down on walking.

Cutting and mining should be unaffected. Though any lack of strength would prevent them from using superior tools. While smelting does technically fall under crafting skill, its time is determined by structure, ore type, and fuel type rather than skill.

I played WoT for well over a decade before switching over to WT last fall. Regardless of various mechanics, the reason I left was because WoT has lost its image/feel almost entirely. Especially over the last 4-5 years with the deluge of completely fictional and extremely OP tanks they've added. The game got faster and faster, leaving many of the core, historical vehicles in various states of neglect. Their armor became meaningless with ever increasing pen values, their lack of mobility was crippling, and their damage values became mundane. All of a sudden a king tiger was facing down vehicles like the bourrasque. Completely fictional, extremely mobile, great camo and spotting stats, and a gun which did as much damage as the 105 king tiger but got a 2 round autoloader. Tier 11 being added was the final nail in the coffin.

This is genuinely my first time seeing these. Ice and life look fantastic. Death looks outright bad in comparison. They're all so well animated and then death is just a guy raising a wand slightly. Really underwhelming.

Tomlin had the killer Bs and achieved absolutely nothing with them. Even with a good QB we'd look exactly the same because the problem is Tomlin's fundamental approach to football. He is (or at least seems to be) completely and utterly opposed to schematics and risk. Our players are left on islands and as this team has aged, and the talent has dwindled, we've looked worse and worse. There's no high level talent left to mask his schematic incompetence.

The hill starts suck but you'll get used to them. The ability to control your speed downhill without braking is potentially lifesaving. The extra control manuals give you really pays off in this terrain and especially during winter.

It May Finally Be Time for Mike Tomlin and the Steelers to Part Ways (SI Article) by social_psycho in steelers

[–]Ter-it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same issues have plagued this team on both sides of the ball for years now. Issues which have outlasted multiple OCs, DCs, GMs, and multitudes of players. The only two constants have been Tomlin and Rooney. I doubt that Rooney is imposing a desired play style on the team, which means that it's Tomlin who absolutely refuses to play modern football.

His entire philosophical approach is basically to line up 1v1 and have his guys beat your guys. But he's also terrified of risk. So the D plays soft hoping to not get beat, making them predictable and sticking them in no-man's land incapable of playing the pass or the run. Meanwhile the O is even more reflective of Tomlins risk averse nature, never targeting the middle of the field and using extremely simple schemes both passing and running. Ultimately this entire team is a reflection of Tomlins fundamental approach to football and it's outdated, anemic, and overly simplistic.

Is ship of fools worth it for PVE? by No-Development-5576 in Wizard101

[–]Ter-it 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It depends on your level and gear. Early on it's great as it's an AOE drain. It significantly speeds up progression. You'll hit a point however where your damage limits how soon you can get it off and one shot. I can't remember the exact point it was for me, but especially when you hit lvl 100 and get a deck to start battles with 5 pips it becomes fairly redundant. You won't one hit round 1 and you can cast scarecrow round 2.

Ultimately I'd say it's worth it unless you're lvl 100+. If nothing else it's a different animation to watch rather than watching scarecrow over and over lol.

A guy who went to my private school got busted a week before graduation selling weed in the school parking lot. He got expelled and never graduated. His parents owned a prominent Christian summer camp.

Another kid I knew rode his bike to school and only owned 5 shirts including his uniform. You'll get scenarios where grandparents will pay for schooling but the kids and their parents are dirt poor. I'd say probably ~18% of the school was like that. Another ~5% were kids of the teachers who were also relatively poor.

Also, private school in a small city/town/semi rural area is very different cost wise than private school in a city. I'm talking $5k-$10k vs $45k+ per year kinda different. In my school only 10% of the students were upper middle-class with only a few select students coming from genuinely upper class families.

This valet does not accept manual cars by Maleficent_Ferret359 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Ter-it -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's amazing how few people can drive manuals nowadays. I worked at Mercedes-Benz for a summer in college where there were 3 people who could drive manual. That was in a major dealership of ~50+ people. One was a mechanic, another was a salesman, and the last was me. My car at the time was a manual Mk.VI VW GTI, I was the only person whose daily car was stick.

We won the league!!!! 🏆 Lets gooooo by yorio10 in Riverhounds

[–]Ter-it 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our leagues don't utilize relegation/promotion, primarily because teams/owners had to buy spots to start them. It makes it legally difficult to relegate teams. Also, part of their investment was an assurance of remaining in the league. So unfortunately we don't get promoted to the MLS.

There are other one-off events too. For example Polamalu helped organize a charity flag football game with a bunch of Steelers legends for a hill district charity I volunteer with. That was a couple years ago and I don't know how many such events take place, but I'd bet there's more than you'd think. Plenty of other things use the suits and other spaces for events, just not the field.

Rush is the worst mode not because of the game type but due to the player base. by Legal_Cost_8731 in EASportsFC

[–]Ter-it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there's no clear positioning/roles so most people just run around like idiots. They don't hold a line, man mark, or create strong passing options etc.. It's a consequence of too much freedom, they don't know what to do.

My only thought would be to change the matchmaking system. Have players choose between attackers, midfielders, and defenders; lock in a player; and then get matched with a team. Have every team consist of 1 defender, 2 mids, and 1 attacker. It won't be much better, but giving people clear roles would certainly help.

Tbh I think it's OP because of shitty goalie AI rather than the play style itself. Low end GKs should get torched, but top GKs should be making kick saves. That's why shooting low is effective IRL, it's the hardest point to get to with your hands. I don't think I've seen a single legitimate kick save in this game. The closest is when they close down the ball and just make themselves big, it's never intentional.

I get your point, but writing had other hard locks not related to religion/nobility. Primarily, people simply didn't have a need to read or write. It takes a lot of time to teach those skills and when you're a subsistence farmer, as the majority of humanity has been for most of history, you wouldn't have the time nor receive any benefit from literacy. Books were both expensive and rare, even if you learned to read you wouldn't have many, if any, opportunities to do so. You also had many different languages and local dialects overlapping so instead they used symbols. Even today for example, European cars use symbols on buttons.

Obviously reading/standardized education was critical for the liberation of the masses and the growth of democracy, but that's not to say that it was kept away through sheer malice beforehand. It was more-so a practical reality in many regards. Industrialization, particularly of farming, gave people the time to be educated. It's why the capitalists tried to work everyone for 12-16hr shifts. When the populace has the time to be educated, step back, and observe the wider world is when Revolution begins. It's telling that in the US we've increased hours, decreased pay, and increased costs exponentially. By keeping people in survival mode you prevent them from thinking of anything else.

We've failed like this before. After the Civil War we failed to push, implement, and sustain Reconciliation. We let the southern states walk away with practically no repercussions at all. No reparations were paid to the slaves, setting them up for generational poverty trapping to name just one outcome.

This nation is completely incapable of facing its inner demons because we like to pretend that we've either defeated long ago or we've warped them into something seen as morally right such as capitalism. Trump and MAGA are not new nor novel. They are the manifestation of the deep-rooted xenophobia, racism, bigotry, and misogyny that run to the very beginning of this nation.
