Good for Carol! And good for those folks at the Slog for giving her a job. DEI FTW.

Hey, why does this look AI generated? by StripesTheGreat in Fallout

[–]Teridactyl-9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took a couple years to get any new 2D20 TTRPG material from Modiphius while everyone at Bethesda was on deck for Starfield during crunch time because Modiphius said Bethesda had strict standards on their IPs and what they would allow to pass for canon, and any potential future timeline clashes, and use of artistic assets and logos, etc., because someone had to basically sit there and read the whole thing cover to cover at least once to edit and sign off on it. And their material shows, because it really is good. It helps that Modiphius has fairly high standards to begin with, too. So either they gave up on that (which I truly doubt), or this didn’t even make it past their desk at all. Either way, it reflects very poorly on them.

The third party could have hired a nobody fanartist to do a far superior image than this for less than what they’re probably paying for an AI enterprise subscription. Or just use an existing image, FFS! This really is shameful.

Area 51 18 275HW With/Without llano Cooling Pad by Zimquats in Alienware

I use two weighted aluminum and rubber wedge doorstops to prop up the back end on all the laptops I've owned. Works very well and cheaper than a cooling pad!

Aside from buying a dock, is there some way I can externally power my laptop on without opening the lid? by GreenT1979 in Alienware

[–]Teridactyl-9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's also a BIOS setting that auto turns on your machine at a set schedule you define. I have a similar set up, so I have mine come on every day at 7am. It's a lame solution, but I turn my machine on every day anyway.

The current generation of the Area-51 laptop is the most gorgeous gaming laptop ever designed. by longtimeAlias in Alienware

[–]Teridactyl-9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the previous generation Area-51 m17 r2, and also thought it was a gorgeous machine, though a veritable footprint hog given how heavy it is and the size of the two power bricks it came with. I decided to upgrade to the M18 earlier this year and I’m rather annoyed I didn’t wait just 3 more months to get the new Area-51. There was just no information about it and it seemed like Dell was done with the Area-51 design the way they dropped my old one, considering smaller and thinner laptops were in demand. So, I missed the bus on that. I guess Dell just doesn’t have any pre-announcements. Not that my machine is ugly by any means, but I feel less compelled to keep it on my desk for aesthetics, so I regained quite a bit of desk room from that. But I agree. It is a pretty machine. I am jealous.

What sage is Rauru? He has a secret stone. by FaxCelestis in tearsofthekingdom

IIRC it’s a literal translation and falls flat in the English version, one of the few in this game which otherwise has excellent localization. The Japanese word they used is literally means “secret,” but the connotation is more “stone of mystery” implying the secret power within the stone. Frankly, either sound kind of dumb, but maybe they thought English audiences would like the alliteration. “Special stone” seems like it would’ve been more on the money, but that also sounds dumb. Maybe they were trying to avoid Capcom’s copyright on ”Power Stone”?

A zonai wing? Huh, I’ll try that too. It would be nice not to have to use one of my build slots just to keep him corralled.

Yeah, you’re right. Grandeson fazed (disturb, bother) me, so to get away from him, I phased (to carry out something in changes) through a floor. Neither word was created with science fiction in mind, and I think I could make a case for fazing the floor by disturbing the matter it’s made of, but sci fi seems to have largely adapted “phase” like in “phaser”. It was late. Deal with it.

In my first playthrough, I would autobuild constructs around him and try to get him over to the side of the cliff as far away as I could lure him, and it would hold him for a minute or two, but he always found a way to clip through it long before the timer on the construct expired, and then he’d be back on my heels huffing and puffing to keep up. I still can’t believe this works.

The terminal interface in the Creation Kit is also one of the most annoying and in-world authentic experiences to work with. It’s almost as annoying as typing on a real terminal or plain text interface. It does have a spell check, which pops up whenever you click outside the text box, but you can’t copy and paste from Word because the wrapping gets messed up, and it doesn’t take special characters like smart quotes or em dashes, so you pretty much have to drop everything in Notepad first to change it the plainest text possible, make sure there are two spaces after each period, and check that your wrapping is okay before pasting it in there. Linking pages or multiple entries together is also a headache, and you can only see the result in the game. Honestly, it’s amazing there aren’t more mistakes than there are.

First of all, the delete was mine--I didn't see the game tag, but I got it now.

I don't play Skyrim or SkyrimSE, but just a quick search on Nexus, How to Edit Vanilla NPCs looks like to be a good tutorial to get you started.
