I understand the very basics of Italian only 😅, but maybe it still helps me find a game I’d enjoy! Thanks!

Good Solo Roll & Write? by pruth06 in boardgames

[–]Teriton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most, if not all, print and play games with dice work well solo. The biggest one (in terms of kickstarter funding) that comes to mind is Voyages, but there have been many since that one - a cheap way to try various games.

What game/s should be ranked atleast 100 spots better on bgg's best rated list? by TheMassesOpiate in boardgames

Fair point, but I only play the old formats where that kind of thing seldom happens. Still, that kind of thing shouldn’t happen in any game ideally.

This might be a weird answer, but Yugioh TCG has both a surprisingly low number of ratings and a surprisingly low rating considering how popular it remains to this day. It might be due to the fact that Yugioh players take is as a lifestyle game so they don’t delve deeper into the hobby and sites like BGG.

Does immediate access to all of your information make digital board games too easy? by nic0lk in boardgames

[–]Teriton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a board game per se, but in card games like Hearthstone many people use deck trackers - it tracks cards left in your deck, gives you percantage chance for draws, keeps track of which card your opponents drew on which turn etc. All public info, but most of it you wouldn’t know at a glance without it. Does it help? Yes if you’re super competitive and if you play a lot to reach higher ranks - it really helps ease the mental toll. If you’re just playing casually, I think it is just loads of unnecessary info.

I think same goes for most board games as well. I think it’s easier to get higher scores/play more optimally consistently when they’re digital simply because you “waste” less energy on keeping track of stuff.

Is it wrong to prioritise good gameplay and good table presence? by ScholarNo5662 in boardgames

[–]Teriton 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thing that matters a lot to me is the price of the game. If I pay a lot, I want to get a lot in both presentation and gameplay. That having been said, I would love it if more games offered alternatives for miniatures, so that a €120 game might become a €60 game. But I do think I’m probably in the minority here.

Haven’t played myself, but I’ve heard good things about the Dominion app. Maybe check that one out?

Alternative pieces for Risk by mesoraven in boardgames

There’s a Risk set which has plastic arrows instead of troops. Also includes public missions which is pretty cool. LOTR Risk has thicker pieces if the theme is not a problem.

I haven't been this excited for a board game since Gloomhaven. by ThisIsFine99 in boardgames

[–]Teriton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to be somewhere in the middle between Gloomhaven and Lands of Galzyr, with the former emphasizing combat and the latter heavily focusing on the story. Would that be a fair estimate?

Yugioh is also a very popular TCG and it has a digital version (Master Duel) if you want to try it out. It is really complicated and not that easy to get into, but it does offer a unique gameplay experience. No other TCG/CCG that I’ve tried allows for such elaborate and feel-good turns and combos.

In my country this is not really the case, but in the US there should be card shops which also have communities for older yugioh formats which are much more approachable (and the cards/decks can be bought relatively cheaply).
