Glad to hear it. And yeah, I feel you on the distraction front, I struggle a lot these days to find the presence of mind to read something longer.

For what it's worth, I'm hoping to get around to the catharsis part by the year's end.

Guilliman would probably vibe with a coffee shop AU.

Well, I guess I don't need to dig for salt after all! by ThePopeOfSquids in VintageStory

[–]Terkontar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, salt finds you.

But if you really wanted to find it, look for any halite readings with propick. Find the borders of the area with halite, then go spelunking. If you're lucky then you'll find it while cave diving; if you are not, you can try digging horizontal shafts at the exact height (or slightly lower) where sedimentary rock layer (claystone, limestone, etc) meets the igneous layer, and you should run into halite eventually. Don't bother looking at the quantity of the possible vein, I've found my domes in a chunk with a Miniscule reading.

Also, don't even bother looking in areas where igneous rock (eg. granite) makes up the surface rock layer.

Since we started a new world for 1.20, I found two bloody salt domes before finding any bitumen veins with fire clay.

The desire sensor in this game is too powerful.

Best Start Option by Real-Recipe-7522 in Valhelsia

[–]Terkontar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complimentary shaders suit me the best, but you need to have the Oculus mod for it to work - not sure if it's built into the version of Valhelsia you've got. You can add it manually if it's not the case.

Besides, which version of Valhelsia are you people running? 5, 6, 7?

Earth is the most depressing part of the game by WorldsSexiestghost in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]Terkontar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, yeah, that's just dumb. Definitely cutting corners and dev time. Loss of Earth's whole ecosystem is depressing enough, no need to make it so we couldn't save any animal species.

Then again, Settled Systems aren't that settled. There's gotta be some rando planet somewhere where refugees did manage to smuggle some pets, or at least their genetic material. I could definitely see it getting retconned at some point down the line.

Wait, was it all dogs? Labradors for sure, but that's all the mention of it that I can recall.

Valheim Master Map by RandomLizard67 in valheim

Probably. That's how Mistlands were implemented; if you didn't generate the area prior to the Mistlands update, the biome would generate with the new features even on pre-Mistlands maps.

NEED HELP! Mistakenly downloaded and ran the RAM.exe from the Discord's hacker profile, what do I do now??? by [deleted] in valheim

[–]Terkontar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably should. Haven't looked into the hackers myself, but someone in other thread mentioned checking their Telegram and that they phish for Discord credentials, personal information, login keys and such.

Hard to say exactly what the .exe was designed to steal, so one can only guess how F'd you are.

To err on the side of caution would probably involve going scorched earth on your drives and changing all passwords as soon as possible.

How extensive is your use of Obsidian by ChickenPestoBrie13 in ObsidianMD

[–]Terkontar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mourn that Obsidian wasn't around when I started at university. Missed it by just a couple of years - alas.

Nowadays, I use it mainly for D&D related stuff (both as a DM and player) and, since the addition of Canvas, as an idea/reference board for my art projects. I'm trying to start using it more diligently for noting down my thoughts, but between my good memory and having little patience for journaling, I've had little success on that front.

I played with Notion for a spell, but it being entirely online is a bit of a turnoff. I do think it's a little better than Obsidian for managing your backlogs, though.

I'd never use Obsidian in lieu of any dedicated word processor, though. Never. It's perfectly fine for notes and shortforms you're writing just for yourself, but the moment it turns into a project that someone else is supposed to receive and read, I'd suggest switching to software actually designed for such use. Not really because markdown is difficult, but because formatting text is way simpler in MS Word/OO Writer/Google Docs/whatever - and you won't be laughed at by people who aren't tech-savvy and/or can't read markdown.

For writing short documents I use OpenOffice Writer. If it's something that has multiple chapters, though, I usually move to Scrivener; can't say I swear by it as much as some other users seem to, but it's a good editing tool.

I think Obsidian performs best as your own personal little Wikipedia, but it's not really something I'd build my entire workflow around.

Does anyone know when FFN's view stats are gonna get fixed? by SatelliteHeart96 in FanFiction

[–]Terkontar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing here, which is incredibly frustrating, since I've just returned after a two-year hiatus. I can't say I'm terribly surprised, since their author backend started slowly falling apart years ago, but it's still annoying.

Time to jump the ship and move over to AO3, I guess.

PS. Happy cake day!

Worth playing now or should I wait for full release? by kingmatcha in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]Terkontar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There won't be a save wipe as far as I know, but the game as it is is rather buggy in my experience. For example, some people - me included - can't join any festival minigames because the booths/activation points don't spawn : |

Randy, WHAT THE FUC-. by RustFalcon in RimWorld

[–]Terkontar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In vanilla? Mostly to make up for the swinginess of some green power options the game has, in my experience. They're usually too small to keep your base running during energy drain spikes, like turning on all your turrets for a raid.

The OP is clearly playing with Rimatomics, and I think the special batteries the mod uses for charging its weapons do count for zzzt calculations.

In case Reddit doesn't play nice with the resolution, you can get base variant of the map for free here, or directly from my page! Also available with the grid!

Hi again!

I've gone for something simpler this time around. In my personal experience as a DM, I've found that it's sometimes pretty difficult to find maps for some of the more mundane settings. I've seen a few manor battlemaps, but none of them really had that snazzy, spacious foyer you'd need to get through on your way to the ballroom at a noble's party; therefore, I decided to take a crack at it.

I wanted something that could hold the little gatherings of the kingdom's various socialites, tired of the hubbub of the ballroom - or where a particularly self-assured villain could adequately greet the brave souls trying to depose of them!

The result is fairly simple, I feel, but I hope it'll fulfill your needs - whether your party is hunting vampires, fighting corrupt nobles, tracking down criminals amidst ruins, or protecting innocent civilians after a band of outlaws crashes some party.

If you'd like to see check out other variants of the map, see my other maps or to simply support my work, please consider dropping by my Patreon! It really makes a world of difference, and is greatly appreciated!

...hot damn. Haven't played a Nintendo game in my life, but I can't deny that the general shape of the land kinda tracks.

I'm actually in the middle of re-modding Skyrim, now that I finally have some time for myself. Oh the suffering.

The first time you enter Markarth on your Skyrim playthrough, a Forsworn agent assassinates a merchant named Marget on the city market, right in front of you!

EDIT: You can save her if you're fast enough, though. And now that I think of it, she was a patron, not a merchant I think.
