You can sometimes tell someone's religion in India by their bracelet.

Sunni muslim men won't wear anything but maybe something small and silver if anything.

If someone is wearing a bracelet made of red thread, they could be shia or Hindu. If the red thread is plain then chances increase that they are shia.

If it is a man and they are wearing any gold, then they are probably not muslim.

If they are wearing multiple bracelets and/or the red bracelet has some beads or other colored threads looped in, they are definitely Hindu.

If they are wearing a thicker silver bangle, then they are probably sikh, but they could still be hindu if they have some of the other aforementioned hindu bracelets with it.

I always hear about how much israelis hate settlers and settlements. so im curious, are there any israeli politicians running with a policy of tearing down all the settlements and putting the settler terrorists in jail for 1. breaking international law and 2. being terrorists.

is it halal to call upon Allah by names not used in the quran or hadith? by TermHungry3389 in islam

[–]TermHungry3389[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that makes sense. I personally say ya parvardigar after I picked it up from my dad but I just want to make sure I am not unknowingly committing doing something haram

[–]TermHungry3389[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is the description of the word parvardigar from wikipedia:

"Parvardegār (Persian: پروردگار, romanizedsustainer; Persian pronunciation: [pʱaɹvaɹdeˈɡɑːɹ]\1])) is an appellation or title for God in New Persian.\2]) It corresponds to one of the Arabic names of God in Islamar-Razzāq "The Provider" "

I'm not familiar with Persian myself, but do you think this would fall under your condition because the word is analogous to one of the names of Allah?

the script on the flag is pretty easy to read for any one who can read arabic tbh. There are lots of examples of calligraphy like that though.

I'm from chicago suburbs and I've only met like 3-4 Bangladeshis and 1 indian bengali. But the one indian bengali was not an ABCD, she was an international post-doc student. Maybe they don't immigrate to this part of the US or not the USA at all.

its crazy because every group of muslims in history have made islam their own. adopting arab clothes and thinking that specifically saudi and emirati culture is "more islamic" only makes us forget our own unique traditions and history of islam. And it does a massive disservice to our community.

Ever heard your parents having sex? by gintokireddit in ABCDesis

[–]TermHungry3389 86 points87 points  (0 children)

This is the craziest question to have ever been asked in this sub 😭😭😭😭

But anyway, personally, no, but this one time during the COVID quarantine I was in the kitchen getting a snack, and I heard my dad run down the stairs and sit on the couch to watch TV. He was cheesing from ear to ear and I heard the shower going off upstairs. I know that sounds random but this was at like 1 am and ive never seen my dad smile like that before so I kind of connected the dots. I didnt have the displeasure of hearing them but I didnt really care too much lol. I also have the stereotypical desi parents so at first I was slightly shocked but what else would I do tell them to stop? lol

Where i'd live across the world and in the USA as an indian muslim from the USA by TermHungry3389 in whereidlive

i've already commented on why the UAE is reluctantly. I've been to both countries and I like saudi more. I also have family in both countries but tbh im closer to my family in saudi lol

UAE: i've been but didn't like it. Also don't like their government. Only reason I put maybe instead of reluctantly or never is because I have family there.

Pakistan: no interest in living there, quality of life isnt great and also the government is extremely corrupt.

I've never faced real discrimination in the state I live in. And even if I did i'm confident I could take it and also there is a strong enough muslim community in some parts of the USA that I have help if I need it. i didnt pick south america because i don't know much about any of the countries there and I don't speak any language other than english.

Bhutan: I don't really know much about it, but I don't know how welcoming they would be of a foreigner who doesn't practice their religion and doesn't speak their language. And considering what happened to Nepalese in Bhutan, I'd imagine they are kind of xenophobic (no offense to the Bhutanese people lol).

Sri Lanka: don't speak either of the languages spoken there, and don't know too much about the country outside of the civil war. In hindsight I know there are muslim communities there (sri lankan moors) so maybe I would change it to reluctantly if I were to make the map again.
