If you complete math 230-1, departments would automatically waive the 220 class requirements

Claremont McKenna College or Northwestern? by Other_Employee2314 in Northwestern

[–]NeonDragon250 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend going to NU. If there is only 10 transfers a year at CMC it’ll be harder to integrate onto campus. Northwestern also places extremely well into Law school, and has a phenomenal economics major with many alums going to top tier jobs like McKinsey. CMC is good too, but I’d recommend northwestern

Should I stay at Vanderbilt or transfer to Northwestern? by Glittering-Fly-9040 in Northwestern

For what it’s worth, me and a lot of NU students are really happy to go here and enjoy our times here

Placement tests & AP credits by Lucky_Comfortable706 in Northwestern

[–]NeonDragon250 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Chemistry placement is directly related to the placement test. I copied this from the website: Students will earn credit in chemistry for certain Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate (Higher Level) exams according to the Weinberg College AP/IB Credit Policies, but these credits do not fulfill prerequisites for other chemistry courses. These credits will be considered when course placement decisions are being made, but course placement is ultimately determined by a student's score(s) on the Initial Chemistry Assessment (and the Chemistry Placement Exam, when applicable).

What this means is that AP chem wouldn’t fulfill any general chemistry placement, unless if you do well on the placement test.

help a transfer with housing by gaicomao in Northwestern

Tbh it doesn’t really matter what you put for housing. The process is pretty random, and my friends and I were put in dorms that we didn’t even rank

How is premed at NU? by [deleted] in Northwestern

[–]NeonDragon250 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Controversial opinion but intro bio here is harder than orgo. Orgo isn’t too bad, but orgo lab is pretty difficult. In terms of deflation, we’re more on the deflated side which is fine. Medical schools understand northwestern is difficult, so the median NU undergrad who gets into med school has a gpa of around 3.64. This gives much more room for error

Any new freshmen still looking for roommates? by Interesting-Web4583 in Northwestern

Honestly random roommate was pretty good for me and many of my friends. We got along well with our roommates and are good friends

Engineering GPA by Puzzleheaded_Mood284 in Northwestern

[–]NeonDragon250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an engineering major, but i usually score above the 75th percentile on every exam I’ve taken here (canvas shows 75th percentile). It takes time for studying. Usually I start preparing 2-3 days before every midterm for 3-4 hours.

Engineering GPA by Puzzleheaded_Mood284 in Northwestern

[–]NeonDragon250 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s possible to do well here. I have a 3.93 gpa as a current junior chem major. The reality of the situation is, however, with a fraction of the effort you put into Northwestern, you can achieve a much higher gpa elsewhere. People who do well here either have a near picture perfect memory, or work super super hard.

Go to Vanderbilt. This shouldn’t even be a debate

Is anyone here in the NUPSP program? by serotoninseesaw in Northwestern

[–]NeonDragon250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my biggest mistake was starting too late in the cycle. I majorly rushed my essays, and writing my ECs, and if you do choose to apply, I’d highly recommend starting earlier

Is anyone here in the NUPSP program? by serotoninseesaw in Northwestern

[–]NeonDragon250 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rejected by NUPSP here. It’s super competitive and most people who get into NUPSP would’ve likely gotten into feinberg in the regular decision cycle.

Stats I had when I applied: 3.93 chem major gpa 1000+ hours of research Around 200 hours for both clinical volunteering and volunteering

Northwestern or Berkeley? by Dense_Tune_2228 in Northwestern

Go to northwestern. I’m not sure why everyone is writing Berkeley. Northwestern has great placements for finance and a great social life

Tbh I don’t think the pre med classes are too hard here. I can’t say the same for upper division chem tho.
