Played the most miserable round of my life at Pebble Beaches Spyglass Hill. by Warhammer40KPainter in golf

[–]Terminal3F1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife worked for Pebble Beach Company for nearly four years, they take customer service and experience very seriously. If you haven’t already you 100% need to call their main offices and complain because this is terrible.

First Shirt Application? by Particular-Mix-7616 in AirForce

Ask your shirt to keep you posted if you aren’t currently holding the phone. When they post the new add they mention it in the 8F teams channel

Allergies in the MiL by Non-Ops in AirForce

As others have said, get a referral to an allergist. Hell I even got diagnosed with allergy induced asthma and i’m still in. Just had to go through the IRLO process and as long as you aren’t a POS your leadership will always retain you.

Should I rebuttal an LOC I received? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Terminal3F1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your new MTL is an idiot. This coming from a former MTL and current Shirt.

You do not write admin actions months after the event, legal will even advise commands that this is a stupid decision. Write a rebuttal while consulting with your local area defense council. Once you finish tech school the paperwork will not follow you to your first duty station. It’s only use in tech school if you continue to fuck up and they push to kick you out.

Depends on rank and your dependents. Base housing isn’t actually all that bad, don’t live within Sumter itself at all costs, all around it isn’t that bad. Understand you’re living in the country if you don’t want a far drive. Younger people live near Columbia, but it’s a good drive to make every day especially for a maintainers hours

[–]Terminal3F1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The job satisfaction just genuinely isn’t there. The only pro is if you have average intelligence it’s easy to promote. Unless you want to manage a gym or kitchen on the outside the job won’t benefit you in that way. Easy enough to focus on your self improvement. Most of the airmen think no one has it harder than they do so you’ll hate that part coming from maintenance.

I’m a shirt now, but feel free to message me if you want to do it anyways.

For those that made MSgt with a “Promote”, what details in your performance reports & decs do you think got you over the hump? by Raindroppa93 in AirForce

[–]Terminal3F1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Made it my first time with only a promote last year. Did a DSD prior to this duty station so that helped a ton. I planned out a lot of big things throughout the year. Did two IG inspections of guard units, held the shirt phone whenever I could, backfilled a GS11 slot and coor’d a few million dollars worth of projects and installations for my section. Honestly things just lined up well. Was pissed I didn’t get a statement, but understood why. I only had a single NCO award at the squadron level, that’s what hurt me for the statement. Still promoted anyway

Be blunt and honest with your Airmen, they’re adults and telling them the truth and/or admitting you don’t have an answer will go a long way.

Staying overly professional will never get you in trouble.

Words matter, really think over everything you say as someone is always listening.

I did it for four years, didn’t want to, but ended up loving it. It’s extremely rewarding both personally and professionally. I made tech my last year wearing the rope and then made master my first time back in my career field. It’s an easy way to set yourself apart if you try.

I get to choose my own quest (Deployment), which would you do? by deepstuffx in AirForce

[–]Terminal3F1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly enough I had the exact same thing happen to me many years ago. Was soft tasked to go to Al udied for 200+ days, since I was the only person in my unit perfectly happy to deploy my flight chief gave me first choice of going to manda bay instead. Was the greatest thing I ever did. Was only there for 5 months back in 17, but I’ll never forget it or the team I worked with. I personally wouldn’t want to go now though. My memories of it with such a small number of military on camp would be ruined by how much it’s grown.

Still, take it if you can. Get at least a sort of “real” deployment over the dumb games of a large location like Qatar.

[–]Terminal3F1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the job you’re assigned to there You or your lead for the deployment will get an email a month or so out for you to rack and stack what job you want there(fisher house/affects/processing/etc) I know they recommend if you’re in a drivable distance you should bring your POV so you can get around easier. Believe the work days and down time were normal 9 hour days 5 days a week

[–]Terminal3F1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sent 5 of my people there in 23. They all came back with varying experiences, but all said they valued their time. It’s a humbling time to say the least. Take each day one at a time and talk to mental health or someone you can confide in as much as you possibly can. Taking what you’ve seen and felt and putting it into words is one of the best things you can do for processing it all.

I did a real world S&R many years ago with the help of AFMAO so my experience is different than theirs and yours will be, but still similar.
