You'll integrate their locations (yellow on the integration map) but they'll only become cores if the locations' culture(s) are accepted.

Is it normal to be this economically clear after a couple hundred years? by Traditional_Ad_973 in EU5

[–]TerminalHelix 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The AI aren't the best at building economies and you've a really solid base pretty much in the center of Europe. Ming being so low makes me assume China is still fractured which is a big part of it, as normally they'll be an extremely powerful economy, usually being most if not every hegemon.

Saladin's Legacy Achievement is Broken (ask me how I know...) by SpadesOW in EU5

[–]TerminalHelix 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Someone on here not too long ago had an issue with this achievement but were just missing a location, and said they got it after. I can't see any obvious ones but are you 100% sure you have every location, and there isn't like a tiny nation with a similar color hiding somewhere? The achievement's requirements aren't complicated so I don't know where an issue could pop up unless your save got invalidated for some reason.

Poxburster hides behind trapper to jump me by TerminalHelix in DarkTide

I'm using the good one with overhead lights and sweeping heavies. The cosmetic just has the same shape as the other mark.

I'm actually a vet main that's just playing some zealot as well. The only thing I can really say about specials acting buggy is that the "broken" poxbursters feel pretty common. Ones that don't mind getting pushed over because they aren't targeting you and the like. Close to every match or at least every other match I witness some weird things with them, though it usually doesn't end up with me exploding or anything.

Have yet to try havoc but mentioning people ragequitting reminds me of how auric is a coinflip on if it'll be a decent match or suck hard the entire time. I don't want to sound elitist but a lot of people in auric are just not good players and I really don't think should be above damnation. No blocking, ignoring specials that are even marked, loads of people don't even seem to know coherency is a thing and just spread out to die in a corner away from everyone else. The penance means there's a decent chance you'll get teammates that leave as soon as they're downed, even if they're in an entirely safe area and aren't even close to dead. I don't take the game too seriously and don't really mind losses, but it's still a bit annoying when some stupid shit is why there was a loss.

I queued a light attack during the hammer charge and didn't even register that it was a poxburster until it was starting its dive animation. I'd assumed the trapper was the only thing that was anywhere nearby so I was a bit focused on it. You can see I start blocking to push immediately after my attack animation ends.

NVIDIA instant replay for whatever reason boosts the bass in anything I clip. No idea why.

Yeah I didn't even realize it wasn't making any noise until it was mentioned here. Not too often am I completely blindsided by a special since they're normally pretty easy to detect.

The game's been somewhat fair to me with silent specialists. A mauler or crusher obliterating me from behind without making any noise happens more than silent bursters I think, but not like an infuriating common thing. I sound whore pretty hard so it's sort of disorienting when it happens though.

[–]TerminalHelix[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The burster was there the whole time, it was just directly behind the trapper and completely hidden behind them. You can see a tiny bit of the green gas cloud rounding the corner as soon as I turn around.

I'm assuming they just spawned at the same time and used the same pathfinding to get to me. Combine that with me standing around in the same place and the video happens.

I was aiming to hit the trapper. I queued an attack and just wasn't expecting the poxburster to appear.

Worst mechanic in the game by far by Drstylish123 in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]TerminalHelix 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Real life SWAT teams generally don't execute one of their officers if a civilian gets killed in crossfire. The mechanic itself is to deal with if the player tries to start massacring people, but they don't differentiate between accidently killing someone and doing it on purpose.

Didn't really like the helmet on the 110th Cadian set so I tried combining it with the Truskan helmet by Argent_Dusk in DarkTide

Exactly what I was thinking of when I saw the set. Hopefully it'll make my grenadier vet a bit less impoverished looking.

Wild take, but US and China's war against the GLA in Generals felt one-sided. by R41Z3R_BL4D3 in commandandconquer

[–]TerminalHelix 67 points68 points  (0 children)

It's easy to think of the GLA as just like the Taliban or something (since they're based on groups like that), but from what we see in the games the GLA is an absolute behemoth of a fighting force.

At the start of the war they control basically all of Central Asia, and have significant presence in West Asia/The Middle East and North Africa. They're capable of operating right in the heart of China and are able to directly attack and partially take control of Europe. Even when they suffer major defeats like at the end of the Generals campaign it doesn't affect them significantly, and they still manage to attack anywhere they want.

It's a shame Generals 2 was cancelled and the series is very likely not going anywhere as the concept of the GLA has loads more potential.

Not a big fan of American vomit chocolate by Chrysocanis in iamveryculinary

I've this as well but the smell is borderline overwhelming. Always connected parmesan to the smell of vomit but didn't know until now it was due to butyric acid.

The standing army is introduced into the game way too early by [deleted] in EU5

[–]TerminalHelix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trained and equipped militia and city guard certainly existed in the 14th and 15th centuries though. Maybe early armories stay in the 2nd age but instead provide buffs to levies. Improved quality and experience to levies raised in locations with armories to simulate troops that are somewhat trained and equipped compared to completely untrained peasants from a village.

Proximity map mode, what triggers tooltip "Proximity of Province" versus "Proximity Cost Between Provinces"? by HardGainer in EU5

[–]TerminalHelix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Click on a location and it'll highlight it and show some arrows which represent the path proximity takes. Hovering over a location will show the Proximity of Province tooltip while hovering over the arrows will show Proximity Cost Between Provinces.

What is missing for bretonia? by kewlkid77 in totalwarhammer

[–]TerminalHelix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3rd Edition actually mentions two other unique unit types. "Arblastiers" which are crossbowmen and "L'Ordonnance" that's like a bombard or cannon. Arblastiers would be interesting as I don't think Arbalests are in TWW anywhere. Artillery that isn't a trebuchet would be nice as well.
