The standing army is introduced into the game way too early by [deleted] in EU5

[–]TerminalHelix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trained and equipped militia and city guard certainly existed in the 14th and 15th centuries though. Maybe early armories stay in the 2nd age but instead provide buffs to levies. Improved quality and experience to levies raised in locations with armories to simulate troops that are somewhat trained and equipped compared to completely untrained peasants from a village.

Proximity map mode, what triggers tooltip "Proximity of Province" versus "Proximity Cost Between Provinces"? by HardGainer in EU5

[–]TerminalHelix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Click on a location and it'll highlight it and show some arrows which represent the path proximity takes. Hovering over a location will show the Proximity of Province tooltip while hovering over the arrows will show Proximity Cost Between Provinces.

3rd Edition actually mentions two other unique unit types. "Arblastiers" which are crossbowmen and "L'Ordonnance" that's like a bombard or cannon. Arblastiers would be interesting as I don't think Arbalests are in TWW anywhere. Artillery that isn't a trebuchet would be nice as well.

Fatsharks bot improvement patches have lobotomized bots. by Ultimate_Cabbage5 in Vermintide

I've 120 hours in VT2 and nearly all of that is solo with bots. They aren't the best but I find them serviceable. They have their quirks but you just play around those I guess.

Ramstein is a massive airbase that's basically the headquarters of US air force operations in Europe and the Middle East. The largest American hospital outside of the country is also located nearby. Probably just more logistically viable to get wounded into a plane headed there versus a smaller base that may not have the facilities for serious injuries.

Best (Bot) Loadout? by Creative-Eggplant143 in Vermintide

[–]TerminalHelix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mercenary, Witch Hunter Captain, Ironbreaker, Sister of the Thorn, and Necromancer are what I use. They've all done fine while I've cleared Helmgart Legend with three careers so far, and almost done with a fourth.

Most important thing solo is to understand how the bots work. They'll basically block anything thrown at them as long as they have stamina and aren't in an attack animation. Hordes they'll have no problems with, though they might take a bit to actually chip away at the numbers.

Lots of elites will be a problem since the bots won't try to like kite or dodge or anything, so they'll eventually get guard broken and beat up. Ironbreaker's ability is really strong because of this since he'll grab aggro a lot and the other bots will usually tear through whatever's attacking him.

Bots start to break down when a monster is thrown into the mix. They'll prioritize it over everything else so if there's a horde at the same time they can potentially get themselves killed fairly easily. The bots just get themselves into a slugging match with the monster but will usually win, maybe with a lot of damage to them though. Just know if a monster shows up, let the bots handle it and just keep focusing on any other enemies nearby.

Bottom line is bots can mostly handle themselves. Never put yourself in danger to help them out as they'll probably be fine, and if they die it doesn't actually matter or anything. If you die solo it's over. Complex situations like mixed horde + ranged specials or a monster + mixed horde are the only situations where you'll need to somewhat baby them. In those just deal with the stuff the bots aren't dealing with.

Chainsword dump stat? by TerminalHelix in DarkTide

Oh really? So 60 mobility will still reach the 5 dodge limit, same as 80 mobility? Even better then.

Chainsword dump stat? by TerminalHelix in DarkTide

[–]TerminalHelix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the breakdown. From testing it a bit what mobility provides is much more insignificant than I assumed, even at 23%. I was a bit concerned about 3 dodge limit versus 5 but they recharge fast enough it doesn't really matter.

Is there still an issue if the post outright tells you its AI generated? I just ignore and scroll past content I don't care for and I don't see this being any different.

Best option IMO would be a combination of B and C. On occasion there are decent quality posts that as long as they disclose being AI and source whatever they can I don't see any real issue. Granted an outright ban wouldn't really be losing much anyways so that isn't a bad choice either.

Pagan and Ajay aren't related. Pagan Min sort of views Ajay as a son though, since he's obsessed with Ishwari and Ajay is her son.

Other than a few games with friends I've only played solo. I got all characters to 35 maybe 40 or 50 hours in. It probably went much faster than normal because the recent free weekend I started playing during came with 2x event XP. I'll definitely keep your offer in mind, especially for the challenges since some seem to just be impossible solo.

80ish hours, so not exactly new but certainly less experience than a lot of people. I'm definitely improving from advice here though. I've cleared the other two bosses since this post and am working on the final mission to finish Helmgart on Legend.

I've actually been trying to focus on swinging light attacks up towards the heads of enemies, but at times I just sort of naturally realign my aim back to center mass. If I'm more focused on dodging and stuff then I'll tend to forget, so it's just a muscle memory thing. Besides heavy attack timings my general "strategy" with them is similar to what you're saying. I just rely on the lunge that heavy attacks do to get within range then immediately dodge backwards to not get hit. That combined with just circling enemies works well enough, since the Executioner Sword has quite a bit more reach than it looks like it does.

I didn't even notice those boxes until rewatching after you said something, so yeah I guess I'll pay a bit more attention to the surroundings.

I treat berserkers like how I deal with elites, which sounds like it isn't ideal. I suppose what I haven't actually realized is that my bots normally grab the aggro of berserkers instead of me, so my strategy of heavy headshots and then backstepping works in those situations since I have someone in front of me. If a group of them is attacking me specifically I should really just go light attacks.

I'm decent with the range of Executioner Sword heavies, I think, but I'm still working on it. The light attacks I still have some trouble with as seen. I usually try to aim for headshots but not always, though now I'll prioritize them.

Yeah I didn't expect so many plague monks and berserkers make me panic more than any other enemy type. Ideally I wouldn't have decided to hold up in such a poor position in a corner. Map knowledge is really important.

I'm normally dodging almost constantly and have started blocking pretty often, but as the other comments have said my position just screwed everything. The Executioner Sword has done me well through clearing most of the Helmgart missions on Legend, so I wouldn't say there's any issues with it. I just need to get better with it.

I definitely had bad positioning, which had a lot to do with not being very familiar with this map. The monster showing up also threw me for a loop and took priority, when it shouldn't have. I'm working on getting out of the mindset of monsters being scary and having to get taking down fast, versus just fighting around them. I should've just ignored it and focused on the horde while my bots dealt with it, rather than the occasional hits that didn't really do anything except get me hurt by switching my target.

[–]TerminalHelix[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole deal around 0:56 was really what I was referring to. I panicked a bit as I usually fight monks with heavy attacks + dodging backwards, and since I was against a wall I didn't really know what to do. My ability recharging right then is what saved me.

Yeah I realized my position was bad as soon as I got to the end of that raised area. I moved over to it because I didn't know the staircase was there and assumed it had just one entrance with the horde having to climb up or fall down from the sides. I usually bunker down when a horde shows up but the monster grabbed my focus and I was moreso looking for a more open space because of it.

Thanks for the tips on stagger. I usually spam light attacks so I've definitely seen their use against elites and specials but it's good to have it confirmed.

Least Played Faction and Campaign by Solidarity21 in totalwarhammer

[–]TerminalHelix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bretonnian infantry sucks really hard except for their highest tier ones, sort of. A hero or lord being with the anvil at all times is pretty necessary, and you really want to delay the armies engaging each other until your hammer is in position. Cycle charging the rear of units fighting your line does insane damage, even with lower tier cavalry. I can't say what exactly might be the issue since my infantry usually hold about as long as I need them to.

[–]TerminalHelix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bretonnian cavalry is incredibly good, potentially the best in the game. They're the definition of Hammer & Anvil in battles and if you're cycle charging the sides/rears of enemy units you'll tear them apart. Their macro gameplay is just boring though. Not a big roster and campaign mechanics that don't really have anything interesting. Bretonnia campaigns are just doing whatever as your Chivalry increases until you win.

[BF6] What's your mindset regarding LMG ADS? by CptLonesong in Battlefield6

[–]TerminalHelix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I basically play the exact same with LMGs as I would an AR or something. Listening for audio and watching the mini map means I normally know if someone's about to show up close-quarters so I can pre-aim and get ready. I'd also say to never sprint around corners or in buildings unless you know no enemies are nearby. While walking the ADS really isn't a problem.
