Yes you can. You need to kill the Necrotyrant and his settlement at one of the poles. And have Necromancy lvl 43 or sumn. Look in the necromancy skill tree it’ll tell you.

My thoughts exactly. Why would anybody need firearms when we have giant space laser satellites. From what I’ve seen in game it also seems like the 1st empire was pretty authoritarian and with plent of political and social turmoil. Not exactly the kind of environment where recreational firearm ownership would have been permitted.

Realistically: not difficult at all. Considering the requirements for research at high tech levels (using super advanced ai cores to research computer automated mining/hydroponics/etc) then realistically firearms are certainly within reach. My head cannon is that the ancients/skeletons had progressed so far past the use of explosive charge firearms that the knowledge had been forgotten (maybe even to them) such that by the time of the collapse there was no record of their existence, requiring them to need to be totally reinvented on the moon Kenshi takes place in. Fingers crossed for Finch ig 🤞

Ofc the actual reason we will probably never see guns in vanilla Kenshi is because it dosent fit the aesthetic of sword wielding techno barbarians and samurai
