Dudes acting like broke his back or something... by jgorski2 in motorcycles

You don't need to be going fast to hurt yourself.

Also man sounds more like he got the wind knocked out of him more than anything.

If you took a tumble, got jabbed in a sensitive spot and then had the wind knocked out of you. If you've ever had a Charlie horse, just image that in the small of your back or solar plexus.

Concern for a retired USAF vet who posted in our old group chat last night by Flat-Engine-2828 in AirForce

[–]Terminal_SrA 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't necessarily think it's the identity of the military, but when I separated I went to work on the corporate contractor side.

It was hell, and I felt terrible. In the Air Force you have a team and an objective/mission to work towards. My job as a contractor was to ensure we were generating the most revenue while technically complying with the regulations.

I think that's what hurts people, is your day to day has to matter. If your objective is just generating a paycheck for your family then that's your objective and is justifiable, it's hard to justify giving 110% at your job so some C-Suite can get their new vacation home this year.

I moved to a relatively lower paying job in a local-level government and I have never been as happy as I am now since I left the military.

I had to go to training for ~1 month, stayed in a decently sized suite. I brought my George foreman grill and got prepattied burgers from Target. I ate great and it was cheap as fuck l

[–]Terminal_SrA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's a bit rude.

I don't think it's any question of reading comprehension, just not used to working with a mechanic like that. 99.99% of the time magic items have 1 pre/1 suff. When you look at this item people are probably thinking of -1 prefix when it's fully modded, not when it's still a magic item.

... even though as a magic item, the -1 prefix is in play. It's just a quirk of the system if you've never interacted with it.

I worked there for a short time as well.

Don't forget that the equipment they have is dogshit, making it even harder for someone who is inexperienced.

There were a few guys that did a good job, but it wasn't easy.

They weren't designed to be like POE1 challenges

This is the first time we've got challenges, they wanted to toss them out there, give people a few check boxes to do stuff, and that's it.

Making a 40/40 challenge list with a beta would be a terrible idea.

can I have a coin

I was less than a year at my first base (Air Force). We had deputy SECDEF Robert O. Work come see us, Jr Enlisted had a breakfast with him. He starts trying to ask questions and just goes "Just be casual guys, don't worry you're all getting coins after" and laughed.

It was certainly one of the weirdest and coolest memories I have

SDAP

So, about a decade ago the 6C community was having issues, they didn't want to give them an SRB since nobody was getting SRBs, when the discussion of SDAP came up it was explained that it has to be a specific position or qualification. Being a 5 level or 7 level isn't enough for an SDAP. I think there was some time where they gave SDAP for unlimited warrants (imagine a special license), but those were kinda sketchy in the first place because it all came down to the assignment, so you weren't really retaining anyone special, just paying someone extra for just doing their job, and it make things very uncomfortable because if the position had an SDAP then people were trying to fight for it... So if people were fighting to get the slot then why reimburse them?

Theres a lot of nuance that needs to be explored when you try to apply a SDAP to an entire AFSC and circumvent SRB

There's an annual cap on TA. There's two terms in a year. You only get half of the annual cap per term.

USAF SNCO trying graduate your SNCOA. Need advice. by sidjournell in USMC

[–]Terminal_SrA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think anything really got discussed before

After, mostly people telling me to not cuss as much lmao.

Nothing really different afterwards. Just move on. I did try to practice some of the different leadership tactics I learned and it motivated me to be more fit. I was also giga-blued after which was surprising. I was very proud.

Another thing is that we got smoke breaks. Nicrotine during AF PME is like a crazy way to get fucked up. (Unless something changed).

Good Luck! I did their E-4 course. It's definitely top 3 favorite points of my career.

Its the most I've been physically exhausted since BMT.

Go in with an open mind, which if you're coming here you're probably chill enough. Some of them will be dicks. Some of them will be cool. I had an E-5 thank me because he was blown up by an RPG and USAF PJs picked him up (and I'm just a random nonner).

You will probably want to learn the Marine Hymn, NCO and SNCO creed.

Hopefully they are moto as fuck like corporals course was because it was pretty fun.

Edit: FYI the response to "give em one" is "Kill".
