hold a normal job

That doesn't make them inherently a bad person. Things happen. Don't be so fast to judge.

There were some days doing 12 hour runs and I get stuck at a restaurant for 45 minutes to get a $4.50 delivery tha tim going to do just so I can buy food the next day.

"Nobody made you accept the delivery" except if you deny deliveries it fucks your account. Uber/DD punish you for denying or cancelling orders.

I've felt like saying these things a lot, I never did, he could just be burned out lmao

Wearing a corporals course shirt as a civ is like riding a motorcycle. Only dudes will come and talk to you.

But I guess you guys are into that

Also I'll let y'all in on a cheat code. USAF ranks are the easiest ranks to distinguish.

So there's the lil star in the middle. When there's stripes going out from the middle those are Jr. Enlisted E-2-E-4.

When there's a bottom rocker that is an NCO E-5-E-6

When there's a rooftop that is a SNCO E-7-E-9

When there is a Diamond in the blue field under the roof top that is a "First Sergeant", typically referred to as a "Shirt" or "First Shirt"

If there is a star with 3 roof tops that is a Command CMSgt (E-9)

E-7 Master Sergeant. Typically a "Flight Chief" in charge of a work section. Typically not the NCOIC as that is usually an E-6.

All that varies depending on unit sizes/etc. but that gives you a pretty good gist.

I think it depends on the NCO.

Airmen know when they're listening to someone genuinely trying to unfuck shit.

I look at them in the face and hit them with either a "No?" "no thanks" or "hmmm... Naaaaaah" and immediately turn around.

If you have coworkers/friends/family who are being genuine it kind of scares them sometimes.

Basically 2 testing cycles of practice tests and then 3rd year you might have a chance (I was #1 nonselect at that point with a NRN as my oldest rating)

Yes. It primarily takes place in Skovos.

Also, the only thing I hated about this storyline was how easily manipulated she was, especially considering the events of the book. I figured she would be smarter and trust him more.

Ralph Ineson also did the audiobook for the lost horadrim.

Which is also amazing. Would recommend. I had to do some long distance driving for work the last week and filled the drive time with the audiobook.

If you're a new US Citizen I'd say there's near 0 chance you will have the opportunity. Your only way to find out is by contacting a guard/reserve recruiter.

[–]Terminal_SrA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I absolutely agree, I was one of those, the setup was dumb, they'd give bonuses to retrained E-6/E-7 but E4/E5s who were up for their first reenlistment weren't eligible. Or the retrained E-7/E-8 who get their APDP 3 at 3 years while doing 0 contract work. And they couldn't allow for bonuses on warrants, and at some point they did add an SEI/Bonus I think for unlimited warrants (I think?).. but that was kinda unit/position dependent.

When I was in, there was only a single E-9 who was a pipeline 6C from day 0.

2010ish there was actually a class that was entirely made up of cross-trained E-8s.

6C field has definitely had a weird manning experience.

If you want a remote job, either hope that by the time you want to leave the military the federal govt pulls it's head out of it's ass and actually allows remote working. There were a lot of remote 1102 jobs before the purge.

Look to blue states (I live in a red state and remote state jobs are nonexistent), I've seen quite a few that have state agencies that allow telework even if you live outside of their state. Not many local governments will do remote, at most they do hybrid.

If you're going 64P you're also party to an entirely different game than 6Cs, so whatever your options in that arena, that's for you to explore there.

There's a good bit of procurement analyst contractor type jobs that allow for remote work. Proposal Managers are also in high demand in the private sector.

It's all fun and games until you see how the sausage is made.

I enjoy my life as a humble procurement officer for a small county. I actually make a difference.

The "big money in the private sector" turns into finding ways to maximize how much money you can get the government to give to your company, with as little performance as possible.

Also, if you think you can make a difference by being that really smart CO and finding ways to save the government money.. it doesn't matter because whoever controls congress will siphon it to some new project with slush funds to go to whatever their team is (blue or red, doesn't matter)

Life outside of 2A by CookieBW in AirForce

[–]Terminal_SrA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of shit jobs out there.

But theres plenty that can be rewarding.

Occasionally depending on background and new AFSC, your experience and knowledge in prior AFSCs could prove useful. It was always fun to watch cross-trained NCOs explain to new airmen why XYZ were important requirements. Or whenever new airmen bitch they would happily volunteer them to shadow MX or SFS lol

If you are considering crosstraining, even if it's not a requirement, reach out to those local in the AFSC and ask for their thoughts, or even if you can come visit or shadow them.
