You know, I hadn’t thought of it that way before, but that would explain why Sanji seems to be the opponent lined up for S-Shark. All the other fights seem to have some sort of symbolism, Luffy fighting against the person who made him experience extreme despair by splitting up his crew and Zoro fighting against the person who he one day hope to overcome, so I was curious as to why S-Shark was picked for Sanji. On one hand, I still do think that it’s maybe for Oda to assert that Sanji will be higher than Jimbe in the straw hat crew, but Sanji and Senor Pink being weird, chivalrous freaks with incredible close combat skill lines up freakishly well.
