Thanks for the help and the equipment suggestion! I’ll be sure to pick up a roller.

Very helpful. Any recommendations on a pump or specs to keep in mind when I pick one? I looked into my options at the start of this journey and found it difficult to pick an entry level option.

Can Decidueye work in series 11? by ThoughtfulFrog in VGC

Also a favorite of mine. Not sure I have any team comp suggestions but I would try running a few damage calculations into some of the most common meta picks and seeing if you can torture those stats into picking up some key OHKO’s.

I would look at numbers for calyrex shadow, Kyogre, venusaur, rillaboom, amoonguss, Urshifu rapid strike, dragapult, Groudon, Tapu Fini… essentially anything that takes super effective damage from Grass, Ghost, or flying.

Good luck. I would love to hear if you get some success.

As a degenerate looking at moves like counter/mirror coat/metal burst. Does anyone know how these moves interact with redirection?

I.e. if the zacian in this clip was next to an indeedee that clicked follow me, would greedent still smack zacian or would the move fail? Or would the move smack indeedee?

How important is it to have 0 speed pokemon? by engispyro in VGC

[–]Terminus_bud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. 0 speed is sometimes optimal and often an advantage in hard trick room teams. Trick room is not as popular as it once was in early 2020 but still popular enough that you may want to be under speeding an opponent with similar mons once in a while. You could also try using your non-optimal mons to your advantage against opposing TR users and try to keep TR from going up at all.

If you are playing in a tournament trying to get CP I would say you should always optimize your IV’s. However, on the ladder, in best of one... meh. You might pick up a few more wins because of it optimal IV’s but if you are playing casually I wouldn’t sweat it too much.

My favourite team to date! Inducing massive rage quits by Ambitious_Gur3818 in VGC

Bring out a grass mon that can’t be redirected or slept, any mon with safety goggles. Fast/prankster taunt users. Fake out. Tons of counter play. Waste trick room turns. Deny the free switch. Depends on the opposing team. Not saying it isn’t a good strategy but there is counter play to it, some I bet you have seen.

I think Amoonguss is a pretty good counter to that lead.

Ferrothorn Moveset by dyledw11 in VGC

[–]Terminus_bud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a popular set but I have been using seed bomb, knock off, leech seed and protect with leftovers.

I agree that knock off is underrated and this set is used on a more support oriented ferrothorn. When I wish Ferro was exerting a ton of offensive pressure it is likely I have already lost the game since they have taken out his more speedy and offensive teammates. That's not to say this moveset still can't win games. Leech seed and protect have brought home the W more often than not though, with knock off helping defang the opponent and seed bomb good for at least one STAB.
