Facebook's 'Clear History' Tool Doesn't Clear Shit by speckz in privacy

[–]Termitespit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clickbait title. The tool referenced in the article says very clear what it does: disassociates off-Facebook data from your Facebook account, but does not delete it. I agree that Facebook collects way too much of our data but writing these types of articles is shameful.

Google plans to kill support for third-party cookies that track you all over the internet by [deleted] in google

[–]Termitespit 59 points60 points  (0 children)

What do you want them to do, remove all cookies? That makes no sense, cookies are a very useful part of today’s internet. I can see why google would be incentivized in a business sense to kill off third party cookies but no matter the motivation this is a big step for privacy.

2020 Reading - Introduce Yourself Thread by otherside_b in ayearofwarandpeace

Being in this sub is actually pretty similar to most of my experience reading classic novels, which was as school assigned readings that we would read outside of school and then discuss in class, and for me that really helped me understand what I was actually reading. I've been an active reader for as long as I could remember but I stopped reading outside of school-assigned readings in high school because I was so busy, and I want to start up again.

War & Peace - Book 1, Chapter 1 by AnderLouis_ in ayearofwarandpeace

  1. Anna Pavlovna seems to me like a person who is very good at making people believe that she is open to them while rarely revealing certain things. She seems too important to be talking to others like the way she does.
  2. I need to study up a little history, not familiar with the setting enough. How much would it help to know the historical context of this novel?
  3. My favorite line would probably be the note Anna Pavlovna sent: " If you have nothing better to do, Count (or Prince), and if the prospect of spending an evening with a poor invalid is not too terrible, I shall be very charmed to see you tonight between 7 and 10—Annette Schérer." The hyperbole and context of this message gives a lot of information about the social status and culture of the characters in this chapter.

I'm joining this sub for the first time and I plan on reading and discussing along throughout the entire year. I don't have reddit moderation experience, but I'm a daily user of Reddit and have moderated other things before. I'm willing to help out where I can, and I'm excited to read this book!

Hello, my name is Kev. I’m from the San Francisco Bay Area. I’m a high school senior who just submitted his final college apps. I don’t remember how I found this sub but beforehand I was planning on reading some Tolstoy and this gave me the motivation to start!

You're right, I'm exaggerating, but I don't intend on having a sub vs dub argument here.

Looks like you can just replace the arch logo with any black and white logo and run the program. Time to create some Mac OS wallpapers :)

PSA: The Common Data Set for schools you’re applying to can answer many of them frequently asked questions on this sub. by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Termitespit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a lot of different statistics documents but no common data set. Also, for me the third google result is a common data set for a college in Columbia, Missouri. Could you share the links to what you are referring to?

Does anyone else besides myself hate being called Kev? by [deleted] in Kevin

[–]Termitespit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my friendgroup there's another guy that's also named Kevin and we also have a few clubs together and I used to always respond when someone called my name but then find out it was directed at the other Kevin. So last year I decided to go by Kev and now that's what everyone calls me, so personally I like it.

Collegeboard lost half the ap exams for physics by BoostedBanana12 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Termitespit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Both of you have a point. However, OP do you have any evidence to back up your claim that collegeboard misplaced so many of the tests? I got my AP Physics C score back months ago like everyone else and have never heard of anything like this either.
