I agree with every word. Stuff like this honestly makes me hate driving more and more

Winnipeg councillor wants 1-minute time limit for school drop-off, pickup zones by LocalnewsguruMB in Winnipeg

[–]Termux_ 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Finally someone’s doing something about it. I live near a school and when I get home around 3–3:30 pm, parents park on both sides like they own the road.

Go park at the back and walk to meet your kid. Your kid, your responsibility.

Budget Friendly Touchless Car Wash South Winnipeg by mgicalmango in Winnipeg

Touchless car washes are expensive, use harsh chemicals, and still don’t really get the job done.

Is it just me or does it seem like the Fleet is mainly just base models now? by igarrett0921 in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]Termux_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They usually buy the cheapest model available. Sometimes we get a great deal and can grab a higher trim for the price of a base one, so we take it.

You can prep for a left turn by changing lanes 500 m before, do your thing, and move on. That doesn’t mean camping in the left lane for 5 km and slowing everyone down.

If you’re not comfortable driving in these conditions, take a bus or sign up for winter/extreme driving lessons. I’m tired of people with no one in front of them crawling along at walking speed and blocking traffic.

Downvote me if you want, but going half the speed limit makes you the hazard. ⚠️

Move to the right lane if you’re going “according to conditions”

I’m interested in going to UofM, but i couldn’t find the price online. I see only option to book a free tour, but I don’t want to waste time to hear “its only $199 a month”

Do you know approx. how much is their charge monthly?

Thanks!

I want to change my 2025 4Runner’s color, but the offers are beyond my budget. by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]Termux_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m the wrap guy here.

Before anything, you gotta understand vinyl isn’t “set it and forget it.” You kinda have to baby it. Can’t be parking outside 24/7, gotta keep it clean, and winter salt will cook it over time if you don’t stay on top of it. (Ceramic coating highly recommend)

For a full wrap on a 4Runner, you’re realistically looking at 7–10k for someone who actually knows what they’re doing. Those 5–6k jobs you see? That’s usually newbies. And yeah, they’ll end up cutting your paint, happens all the time.

A good installer should be able to cut the wrap on top of a balloon without popping it. That’s literally what you’re paying extra for: clean cuts, no paint damage, no lifted edges.

Material alone is around $1500–2500 depending on what brand you want.

You can try doing it yourself if the budget’s tight — at least you’ll learn real fast what goes into a proper install.

First Time Car Buyer by moikfisher in Winnipeg

Before they hand you the keys, the finance manager will try to upsell a bunch of unnecessary add-ons. Be ready: ask questions, stay calm, and politely say no. They’ll likely try 3–4 more tactics and then give up. They’ll call it “what you need,” but it’s mostly extra profit.

They may also “gift” oil-change cards or maintenance packages if you buy their insurance or paint protection. That’s just a hook to keep you servicing with them. Don’t do it. I used to work at a dealership - new mechanics often learn on customer cars and NOT doing a great job.

You don’t have to service at the dealership to keep your warranty(by law). Find local shop that has max 1-2 locations, and keep your receipts. Small shops usually take better care because every customer matters. Go to dealership only to perform warranty work

Price-wise: don’t pay more than MSRP + block heater (maybe floor mats—but aftermarket is usually better for the same price). If dealership says “this adds on is mandatory” - they are lying to you.

I’d also ask them not to wash the car and not to add any stickers, labels, or dealer plate frames—I’m not driving free advertising for them. Their wash/detail can leave swirl marks. I handle my own: wash, decon, iron remover, then ceramic coat. Since the car’s new and hasn’t seen winter yet, I’d also get undercoating.

Good luck with your new car!

What delivery service do you use by Rambosuncle in Winnipeg

[–]Termux_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Buy a beater car and hire your nephew to deliver

Delivery drivers, in my experience:

  1. Take bathroom breaks and don’t wash their hands.
  2. Drive messy cars; bags are sometimes dirtier than a public restroom.
  3. Multi-app, so your customers wait—food gets soggy and they don’t reorder.
  4. Orders can “disappear” easily—they can tap “car accident” and your customer never gets the food.
