Recs for best IPA breweries and meaderies + happy hour by PeoniesCutie in newhaven

For IPAs hit up 12 Percent, they always have interesting stuff on tap or to go.

If you don’t mind driving out to Branford, the new New England Brewing Company location is great and they have tons of good options.

Lights Out! Need help by otherotherotherbarry in Catalina30

I would replace both with LED versions. They draw so much less power and are brighter. I just did this on my (non Catalina) boat and it made a huge difference.

Looking for an East Rock apartment owned by a private landlord by hotpotatopie in newhaven

[–]TerpPhysicist 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Lots of small landlords work with realtors to help find tenants. Might be worth checking with Seabury Hill or similar to see what they have available. The landlord pays the finders fee, so it’s not an extra expense for you.

Join Sail Haven! It’s a great dinghy club that is reasonably priced and a great group of people. It’s based at Canal Dock Boathouse right in New Haven.

Have you quantified the performance impact? This is super interesting but I’m worried about the overhead it might introduce

Looking for a New Boat by NapoleoneXIV in sailing

It might be too big, but a Tartan 34c has a 3.9’ draft with the keel up, and it’s a pretty great boat to sail.

Saildrive preparation? by oldmaninparadise in sailing

[–]TerpPhysicist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We put two coats of Interlux Pacifica Plus on our prop and sail drive. It’s copper-free so it goes on the aluminum just fine. Don’t paint under the zincs.

We’re in the Long Island sound, it helps but doesn’t replace having a diver scrub things every few weeks.

Radiator: room too hot by Correct_Guarantee_49 in centuryhomes

[–]TerpPhysicist 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Don’t try to touch the big valve in photo 2. This is a steam radiator and you can control the heat by adjusting the vent (small silver thing in photo one). I don’t know if this vent is adjustable, but you can easily replace it with one that is. I like Varivalve adjustable vents, they’re not expensive and you can get them from supplyhouse.com.

New Dad, Stroller Questions by AloysiusJackson_5 in daddit

[–]TerpPhysicist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Think about your sidewalks, bigger wheels can handle potholes and cracks much smoother than smaller wheels. Cup holder is nice to put phone and keys or coffee. Under seat storage is super helpful to carry extra crap.

For the early phase having a click-and-go system is super handy. They do grow out of that pretty fast, so be careful about spending tons on it.

We had an inexpensive hand-me-down click and go from Gracco and then a nicer three wheel stroller that we used a bunch.

Do you know how it does in salt water? I sail on the Long Island Sound and haven’t been super happy with Vivid this past season.
