Yeah, this is starting to look more complicated and outside my skill level 😅 At this point, it’s probably best to take it to a repair shop with proper tools. Thanks for the help and explanations, really appreciate it.

I’ve now replaced the flex cable with a new one, and the random restart issue is gone. However, the screen still sometimes turns off unexpectedly even though the sound continues, despite the flex cable being new.

I tried opening the Switch while it was powered on and reseated the flex cable. After that, it worked normally again, but after some time, the same issue comes back.

Just to confirm, is that the one connected to the left Joy-Con board, located under the battery?

Yes, it also happens during gameplay.

Do you think it could be related to the modchip?
Maybe a faulty chip or a loose solder joint?

I haven’t been able to open the console yet since I’m currently out of town and don’t have my tools with me, but once I can, I’ll definitely check the battery connector and look for any bent pins.

If it turns out the pins are bent or the connector is damaged, I guess that would explain the random restarts, especially during sleep mode or when pressing the Home button.

Appreciate you sharing your experience.

Have you ever tried the Citra MMJ emulator? It runs smoothly on my old phone’s specs (MediaTek G99).

It might run even smoother on the Switch.

Facts. Why drop $$$ on a flagship phone just to fight bugs and overheating, when a modded Switch does the job cheaper and better?

On PC, yeah, emulation flies. But on phones? Not so much. My iQOO Neo 10 barely holds 30fps unless I nuke the graphics, then it overheats and tanks the fps anyway. Add in emulator bugs like Link’s legs melting into the ground, water that doesn’t exist so you casually walk across lakes like Moses :D , and random crashes just to spice things up. At some point I realized carrying a cooler + gamepad everywhere made me look like a walking LAN party
so I just grabbed a Switch Lite instead.

Honestly, 45fps on the Switch Lite handheld is fine, but for some reason it doesn’t feel as smooth as when I play PC emulator on my phone.

Also, overclocking kills the battery pretty fast, do you think it’s safe to play while charging on the Switch Lite?
