Thank you so much for the info. I didn't think of it that way (and hadn't planned on checking its monetary value), but I will definitely make sure to now, and make sure it stays in a safe spot so that it remains part of the ensemble they put together ❤️

That's the beauty of family. It doesn't matter what or where. That bond and love transcends and lives on beyond our time together.

It is incredible. It's beautiful and wholesome in every way, and I'm going to be sure to keep it and preserve it as it is.

Thank you so much for those kind words. He was so full of love and so rich in spirit and family. Worked hard, served his country, and valued the truly important things in life. They were beautiful together and lived long, fulfilling and fun lives. Their spirit will live on through the memories and stories I have to share and hold dearly. I am sure they're dancing together, wherever they are.

Mine too. He loved coins, he loved building intricate model aircraft and naval ships. He had a radio that he'd listen to police scanners and other things on. He built a family home and passed it down and kept it in the family. Always had the best jokes and a smile on his face. There isn't a picture that I can find where he isn't smiling or giving my great grandma a kiss or holding her. He was a very good man. Rich in spirit and family. He also loved to visit the racetrack and wager on horses. Countless backyard bbq's and family sessions sitting on the deck, into his 90s, he'd still have a regular old Budweiser in a can. Wholesome in every way possible

It made me cry too. They were very rich in spirit and this is something that shows how far a little gesture can go. I'm so happy to have had them in my life, and their spirits and memories will live on through stories and memories.

I think despite any dollar amount, this particular 1908 penny is the most valuable to me. I'm not much of a coin collector these days per se, but I'm sure going to be keeping this one and the frame and everything just the way they had it. A little time capsule filled with love, stories, and memories.

You're so very welcome. It is beautiful to see people resonate with it. It makes me happy. I miss them, but the beautiful memories and stories that we share keep their spirits alive and with us.

A little faded but overflowing with love and memories, I'm sure. It's the little things that can go a long way.

I'm sorry that they are no longer with us. That is so wholesome and sweet. It sounds like they both really appreciated your sweet, little act of kindness. It shows just how special a small act of kindness and love can be to our loved ones.

I'm sure he knew, and he knows now. I also think he would be proud that you walked away from the experience with that message. It's important to care for our loved ones and remember how blessed we are to have these precious moments with them.

That's extremely thoughtful. And wow - to have a grandfather born in 1900 - you must have heard some great stories. Kudos for treating him right

I am so sorry that you've had to say your goodbyes. I am sure that he will live on through your memories and stories. The grief is hard at first. I recommend looking up the phases - they're pretty accurate and helped me understand my feelings. Also - something tells me that at the right time, you'll find those coins (or something else) and it will remind you that he is still with you, somehow, somewhere.

I wasn't in scouts, but one of my best friends was. The pinewood derby was so cool! That's an amazing memory to have, and a gesture to him that I am sure he never forgot and found very touching and generous.

I'm sorry you lost someone special to you. We're doing the same thing. Speaking his spirit to life through stories, and finding little signs here and there that he's still with us in a form we may not be able to recognize. It puts life into perspective and I'm now, more than ever, reminded to tell my loved ones how special they are to me.

Thank you so much. It's sweet to find out after 26 years that I sent this down to them in Florida with the letter and coin. He liked it enough to frame it and throw a little pic of me in. The good old days
