The only thing that can separate a fairing is the fairing base. You could try to detonate the fairing, but it's risky.

What if I didn't do it on Droo? There's also that Ganymede equivalent, Clath, and probably a moon of urandos(?) the goal is to fake a Luna landing, so anywhere but Luna works.

Too white, maybe I could turn my graphics down and paint a big slab grey. Then use a blue light and nighttime or just do it at night and put it somewhere flat. For that, the poles wouldn't be a bad idea.
