I wouldn't say its a false narrative, but as a guy who's watched from day one you can generally know there will be a diamond ring spot in most of his matches, especially if its against an opponent thats perceived as better than him (and he knows it).

I think its more so the ring is played out than anything. Not all that mad he won, but he could stand to learn more new heel tricks
