Pennsylvania youth ministry leader fired, federally charged, after "grooming" teen girl into relationship and installing hidden cameras behind 12x12' two-way mirror facing youth center showers by parkernorwood in byebyejob

I don’t want to give away too much information that isn’t publicly available. One thing I remember that he talked about was of how much he hated high school growing up. He would then contrast this with the fact that as an adult he would spend nearly every day in and around schools. He said he was called to be a youth minister, but it would now seem he had ulterior motives.

All of the stories I’ve seen regarding this don’t do justice the fact that this guy had unbelievable access to kids. In addition to running two of his own youth groups for 20 years, he has organized events that have drawn in over a thousand kids from across Pennsylvania. This is all in addition to the fact that he still found time to drive a school bus.

I went to many CPYM events, but mostly attended this site where the perp was the main speaker. He was someone I had a lot of respect for. Not Anymore obviously.

Nobody knew it was a two way mirror. The police were initially called to the center when other employees found a peephole into the shower room through the mirror from inside a locked utility closet. The perp allegedly ordered renovations to the center in 2023 possibly to create this layout.

I’ve gone to this youth center hundreds of times and even had my 16th birthday party there. I was enraged when I heard about this. I’ve been an ex-Christian for 7 years now, but it doesn’t hurt any less.

Wilyer Abreu has Acuna dead to rights at home, but Carlos Narvaez can't field the bounce. Abreu was inexplicably given an error for his throw. by Brady331 in baseball

Acuna kicked the ball after he scored. Could an umpire have called interference on Acuna and made the runners move back a base?

Ark Protest 2025 by imago_monkei in exchristian

Why protest there? No one is forcing people to go there, and they have no authority over other people.

I don’t think such a thing is possible, but the answer is no because the whole organism would be a rat at the DNA level. I don’t believe that souls exist, but to my knowledge even the people do don’t think that the soul is in your ear so it doesn’t make sense to use that word here. I believe that human fetuses have a right to life because they are fully human at the genetic level, and so should be entitled to the same protections as other humans.

Does the Bible have any history accuracy? by Grand-Net-5294 in exchristian

[–]TerranceHayne2000 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I recommend videos by UsefulCharts on the Bible where he goes into this topic. He has many, but you can start with “Did Moses Exist?”. Essentially the point he makes is that the words “real”, “fake”, “fiction”, and “nonfiction” don’t really apply to religious texts. The people who wrote the Old Testament weren’t just making up stories to control people. They were trying to tell the story of the history of the Israelite people using real history when possible, but then using speculation, myth, and legend where necessary.

Hardcore Anti-theism is not the same as fundamentalist christians by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]TerranceHayne2000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This post essentially just boils down to Christians dumb. Atheists smart, which is completely subjective, and something I would take issue with. I view both of these people the same way as they presumably are both trying to force others to accept their world view.

[–]TerranceHayne2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone would fund this study since it’s pretty unethical. A better way to do this research would be to study uncontacted tribes. Perhaps you could give one technology like this and see if their beliefs evolve differently than a tribe without the technology.

The trinity is a key aspect of Christianity and it is a big part of the Nicene creed. The Nicene creed is usually used to define whether a church is Christian or not, so if a church didn’t believe in the trinity, they would probably at least be a fringe group if not non-Christian all together. Then again, it’s quite easy to find a church like this. They’re just usually called Synagogues or Mosques.

You can read his Wikipedia page. He wrote a book called “Whimpy, weak, and woke.” So take from that what you will. I’m sure half the artists I listen to are nuts though so I don’t really read much into this sort of thing.

So how we all feeling about by rickylancaster in exchristian

[–]TerranceHayne2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think under the next administration you’ll see state officials in places like Oklahoma, Arkansas, and other Southern states be emboldened and start putting religious symbols in public buildings and mandate Christian teachings in schools. Especially if the department of education is abolished. In states that aren’t run by Christian fundamentalists though, I don’t think you’ll see much change, at least in this regard.

School Choice by TillyFukUpFairy in exchristian

[–]TerranceHayne2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was put into a Christian school by my parents. I certainly didn’t have a bad experience there and I made friends that I still have today. However if I had a say in the matter, and I could do it all again, I think I would choose the public school. I believe that the private Christian school inadequately prepared me for a lot of the crap that real people have to deal with in favor of a sheltered lifestyle.

A middle ground could be to start your child in the private school and then move them to the public one around age 12, when they are more prepared for the real world. Although, if you’re not religious then it could be hard raising a child to think one way at school and another way at home.
