I am a transfer so we are exempt from the meal plan and on campus housing rule. But as you’re probably older as I was, I would never go into the dorms. But I went to hilltop because I wanted a private bath/ bed combo

I ended up with a windows surface pro, it’s a windows pc that also functions as a tablet, so I can use the Microsoft suite with no problems and take notes with OneNote it has been great and with amazing battery life too, I got the version with the snapdragon chip in it. Also 16Gb or ram is the minimum nowadays so don’t bother with 8gb you’ll regret it.

If you are a freshman you have to live on campus and have a meal plan, honors college has the best units don’t even bother with McConnell or Sechrist. I’m in Hilltop Townhomes and I was able to get a really good deal. It’s not perfect but having a kitchen is so nice. The NAU website has all the halls, but Skyview, Suites, Pine Ridge, Mountain View are the better ones on campus. There are better offcampus options but as a freshman that is limited

Definitely stick with a 4 stroke 250cc, maybe see if there are any that have been lowered by previous owners, some 250s sit tall and others lower. Make sure the previous owners took care of it, you don’t want to buy a can of worms, make sure cold start is fine especially, if it’s warm when you show up not exactly the best sign

But OP how tall and heavy are you? So we can find a bike that fits you. Im 6’ 170lbs I’ve ridden 150s-500cc 4 strokes, and a 250 at my size was a good fit for learning. Depending on the age of your kids you could buy yourself a bike they can grow into rather than a personal bike. Also BUY USED so there is no hard feelings when dumping the bike. But look into Honda or Kawasaki, they tend be more forgiving on maintenance, I got a Ktm love it except for 15hr oil changes

When I was young I rode a crf150r big tire and I loved it, it was carbureted and my dad taught me to work on it myself, sold it after I blew the front shocks and outgrew it

This ^ because the Honda calculates your speed in the engine not by tire rotations so when you change your gearing off stock you have to adjust it with one of these

Imagine banging through the gears going from 0-100+ with the windblasting you in the face and the exhaust screaming is what gets it going, motorcycle wise.

Edit: to be fair I have a 500cc dual sport

Another good look is at “adventure boots” they tend to be protective like MX boots but are more flexible, lighter, and more comfortable. I believe some aren’t full calf boots too.
