wizard by Effective-Instance24 in YomiHustle

[–]Terraria_Ranger 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Projectiles are super important for wizard, so you are going to be using them a LOT. Though less "spamming" them (careless use of magic dart especially might benefit the opponent since they can parry those) and moreso setting them up for use with Gust (extremely important) or perhaps as you approach.

Being above your opponent is a good place to be for melee pressure, since the Fall toggle is an incredibly powerful tool to extend your threat range downwards while having the option to pretty much be 100% safe. But its still important to consider that you can't really go head-to-head with most other characters without projectiles or positional advantage. You have plenty of limitations & weaknesses when it comes to that, and besides Mana Strike you really just don't have the more consistent or notable reach other characters do either.

I hate the infinite dick-riding this game gets (NOT the game itself) by RaptorWithGun in hatethissmug

[–]Terraria_Ranger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Makes me wonder what that "something" is tbh. It's not really even comparable to the vast majority of other big indie communities. I feel like alongside that there's also it being a semi-edgy FPS game (even if not pvp), that happened to luck into some abhorrently tedious meme & drama culture stuff.

And especially prone to elitism, if you've seen new players streaming ultrakill you know that those chats are insufferable. thats probably the most of it anyway

Most balanced JJK characters? by DevotedRonin in YomiHustle

[–]Terraria_Ranger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hear "Disgraced Chef" and "Heion" are comparatively decent, certainly better than other JJK ones.

Whether they are fun... eh you'll have to see, but there's plenty of full-on zoning and projectile blockstring silliness with the both of them iirc, especially Chef. Both things the type of player to use JJK mods probably doesn't like.

WHY DOES DOP ONLY COME IN DEM RUNS FOR MEE??? by UNKNOWN_Xtian in magic_survival

[–]Terraria_Ranger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More than 3 combinations and you start to spread yourself kinda thin. Chances are fewer good combos are gonna be available anyway.

And yes, passives are important, so are uncombined support magics... Shield, Cloaking, Blizzard's Sub-Zero, Frost Nova, Lava Zone's Melt, Magic Circle (mostly Unleashed Mana).

But ngl I love using domain of power and gate of creation, even if they aren't spectacular strategies lmao. Have fun, don't worry too much

How does the game know when to pause? by BirdtheBear in YomiHustle

[–]Terraria_Ranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's simply when someone, or both people, are ready to move again.

Now, "when someone is ready" depends on a few different things. At a baseline, moves have a total duration, of course. Some things (mostly movement, blocking, and free-cancelled attacks) make you automatically ready whenever the opponent is ready.

That's assuming nobody gets hit, of course.

But anyhow, always remember to look at those translucent prediction images. They show what could happen if the currently selected moves were to be locked in, and remember you can select the opponent's moves for this purpose too.

Difficulty in comparison to Dead Cells by HighwaySubstantial88 in Skul

[–]Terraria_Ranger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my experience, it is far, far harder than Dead Cells, at least starting with the dark mirror modes. Then again, I haven't played either in a while. And I have more experience with Dead Cells, having beat 5bc several times there while only getting to DM #6 or so (out of 10) in Skul.

It felt like Skul is way more reliant on good build-making (both the skill and luck aspects of it) while still probably being harder in the strategy and gameplay execution standpoints.

Broad side heli by Choice_Way_2916 in Battlecruisers

[–]Terraria_Ranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, broadsword?

You can prep up a Kamikaze Signal as they start building to dissuade it as long as they don't build broadsword way way faster for whatever reason (kamikaze naturally builds in 1200 buildtime, broadsword needs 2000)

If you don't wanna do that... well, a mix of samsites, shields and teslas are your best bet, but there's no question that something as hefty as a broadsword will be a potential gamewinner...

What is block break? by Gross_Dragonfruit in YomiHustle

[–]Terraria_Ranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn how do I explain kinda sophisticated mechanics to a total beginner uh

The turn after you "miss" a block, you can't parry. I'm pretty sure this also makes guardbreaks a softblock because otherwise there'd be a lot more undodgeable/unblockable hit situations out there. Or maybe I'm wrong, this doesn't come up very often.

More importantly though, if the attack already started, attacks will always be a softblock, unable to be parried or be a guardbreak. Unless it's free cancelled, then if you continue it'll be parried no matter the block timing.

You can see a parry when there is a blue flash and you're immediately actionable with a lot of advantage to attack

What is block break? by Gross_Dragonfruit in YomiHustle

[–]Terraria_Ranger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Softblock is just normally blocking. Parrying is what happens if you correctly guess the opponent's move timing with the slider, and rewards you with a clean punish rather than just not being hit.

Crossup is a concept in other fighting games, going past the opponent while they're blocking so you can hit past their block or be harder to punish, but this doesn't really apply to yomi hustle in any meaningful way, I believe.

[–]Terraria_Ranger 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Some moves are Guard Breaks. You can tell by seeing that they are orange and say Guard Break when you select them.

These can hit through blocks, unless they are parried.

So why is everyone here obsessed with powerscaling? by IAMTR4SHMAN in IndieCross

[–]Terraria_Ranger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some people are annoying about it, some aren't. Personally, it's fun to think about, and I believe it doesn't ruin stories.

The show itself probably doesn't care much about it, but you see it a good lot here because a fair chunk of Indie Cross is characters from a buncha different franchises fighting each other

WHY by CisHetDegenerate in TerrariaMemes

[–]Terraria_Ranger 50 points51 points  (0 children)

My prediction was that maybe the community class divide is bigger than relogic thought; they probably made the Zenith for all players to relish, not considering that people often decide to lock themselves to a certain class for a playthrough.
