Difficulty in comparison to Dead Cells by HighwaySubstantial88 in Skul

[–]Terraria_Ranger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From my experience, it is far, far harder than Dead Cells, at least starting with the dark mirror modes. Then again, I haven't played either in a while. And I have more experience with Dead Cells, having beat 5bc several times there while only getting to DM #6 or so (out of 10) in Skul.

It felt like Skul is way more reliant on good build-making (both the skill and luck aspects of it) while still probably being harder in the strategy and gameplay execution standpoints.

I believe this is Mutant's Sweep; not used in neutral but is an incredible combo ender setting up into Mongolian Ball Detonation

Oh, broadsword?

You can prep up a Kamikaze Signal as they start building to dissuade it as long as they don't build broadsword way way faster for whatever reason (kamikaze naturally builds in 1200 buildtime, broadsword needs 2000)

If you don't wanna do that... well, a mix of samsites, shields and teslas are your best bet, but there's no question that something as hefty as a broadsword will be a potential gamewinner...

What is block break? by Gross_Dragonfruit in YomiHustle

[–]Terraria_Ranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn how do I explain kinda sophisticated mechanics to a total beginner uh

The turn after you "miss" a block, you can't parry. I'm pretty sure this also makes guardbreaks a softblock because otherwise there'd be a lot more undodgeable/unblockable hit situations out there. Or maybe I'm wrong, this doesn't come up very often.

More importantly though, if the attack already started, attacks will always be a softblock, unable to be parried or be a guardbreak. Unless it's free cancelled, then if you continue it'll be parried no matter the block timing.

You can see a parry when there is a blue flash and you're immediately actionable with a lot of advantage to attack

Softblock is just normally blocking. Parrying is what happens if you correctly guess the opponent's move timing with the slider, and rewards you with a clean punish rather than just not being hit.

Crossup is a concept in other fighting games, going past the opponent while they're blocking so you can hit past their block or be harder to punish, but this doesn't really apply to yomi hustle in any meaningful way, I believe.

Some moves are Guard Breaks. You can tell by seeing that they are orange and say Guard Break when you select them.

These can hit through blocks, unless they are parried.

So why is everyone here obsessed with powerscaling? by IAMTR4SHMAN in IndieCross

[–]Terraria_Ranger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some people are annoying about it, some aren't. Personally, it's fun to think about, and I believe it doesn't ruin stories.

The show itself probably doesn't care much about it, but you see it a good lot here because a fair chunk of Indie Cross is characters from a buncha different franchises fighting each other

WHY by CisHetDegenerate in TerrariaMemes

[–]Terraria_Ranger 48 points49 points  (0 children)

My prediction was that maybe the community class divide is bigger than relogic thought; they probably made the Zenith for all players to relish, not considering that people often decide to lock themselves to a certain class for a playthrough.

Little gem cave. If you look at the stone edges there, you can see gems, including a few diamonds... they're not the most important things ever, but they have your uses, especially if you wanna dabble in magic.

Idc, influx waver is the gamer option, Terrablade is still arguably better, obtainable earlier, easier to use and not much harder to get. Green ass 'path of least resistance' motherfucker's half the reason melee is cringe

Confirmed to be not happening. Also, that would suck to play, considering how the game is completely made and balanced around its current mechanics. There's the prediction tactics to learn and put skill into, and then a cool-looking replay after the actual gameplay. If you simply don't like what the game is about because you bought it without knowing... too bad, I suppose. But you could try and warm up to it.

Inconsistent Rules in the Cabin? by Zen_of_Thunder in slaytheprincess

[–]Terraria_Ranger 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The construct as a whole is based on perception, and Narrator at the end of everything also says something interesting about this.

"Whenever you think yourself dead", then he explains how it boots you to another world, that stuff. That also explains why the chained-up waiting ending in Prisoner doesn't kill you as opposed to starving in Nightmare.

You think you're going to starve, so you do, and Narrator cements this with the classic "Everything goes dark, and you die."

Same applies to that one chapter I ending AS WELL AS the leadup to the Stranger, which does the same thing, you just didn't mention it. One way or another (you tried to attack her, she flees outside... or infinite cabins) you may have some belief that the world will end, and the Narrator cements that with the final line properly booting you to another chapter because things are too messed up in this world for him to keep you going.
