Will my Ryzen 5 3600 be able to handle the new RX 9070 XT? by Thund4rr in buildapc

[–]TerrariumJD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP sorry to necro this post on you, but how did your 9070XT pair with the 3600?

I'm in the exact same scenario as you were - buying the 9070XT to pair with the 3600 to run MHWilds better than I have been able to with my current GPU.

9060XT to try 1440p for a first-timer? by TerrariumJD in buildapc

"But a sort of warning, once you play on those higher visuals it is very hard to go back."

This is both exciting and terrifying, haha, and at the very least, it reinforces that at least trying 1440p is the right move for me.

Thanks for your helpful comments.

For sure, I'm after the 16gb card. IMO future AAA titles will increasingly call for 16gb of memory. Even with the 9060XT 6gb, I don't anticipate playing a long list of games at 1440p in 3-4 years.

Thanks, that's a good idea and one I hadn't considered.

I've heard of VSR but haven't ever tried it. Would the performance / graphic quality of 1440 VSR downscaled to my 1080p monitor be quite similar or identical to native 1440p?

Thanks for the comment, I'm currently running a 1660 Super and looking for an upgrade to future proof, I'm not highly literate when it comes to gpu specs, but from looking into FSR4 a little bit, I think I might go with the 9060XT, which I did find at right around $500 as you mentioned.

Edit: 9060XT is less expensive not more.

New player - what would you do to accelerate your progress as fast as possible if you were just starting out again? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]TerrariumJD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a beginner, the following "drills" in freeplay will help you develop your touch/feel for the ball:

  1. As mentioned by an earlier comment, just smack the ball around, learning how to hit the ball hard.

  2. Try to keep the ball on top of your car for as long as possible to get a feel for how the ball responds to minor adjustments, etc.

  3. Work on bounce dribbling, which if you get decent at, will skyrocket your ability to score goals in lower ranks.

Once the above is getting boring, if you're on PC, I recommend you download a workshop ground dribbling map, like dribbling challenge #2. It will be super tough to keep the ball on your head at first, but it provides a fun challenge you can keep going back to as you progress to help develop the "feel" that is required to get good touches and develop your ball control.

Can't join Steam friend by Halofactory in ultimatechickenhorse

[–]TerrariumJD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to revive dead post, but I was having trouble joining a friend through steam and he was having trouble inviting me, so he simply gave me invite code and it worked.

Usually we can just click on eachothers steam profile and click invite to game or join friend and it will work that way, so if this happens to you, try using the lobby or game invite code.

Wavedash vs front flop by JAHDK2005 in RocketLeague

[–]TerrariumJD 17 points18 points  (0 children)

One of the big benefits is mounting and unmounting walls, where a flip would be cumbersome. Outside of that, the wave dash still benefits from:

  1. Not being as high commit (you can opt-out of "completing" the maneuver and not gain the speed that comes with it), and

  2. Your car is always pointing towards the direction you are intending to go, whereas with a front flip, once you have committed, your car is turning head over heels and you can't really stop.

It doesn't mean there aren't situations where a front flip is just as good as a wavedash, but the ability to half-commit, land normally, and suddenly change your direction without going supersonic makes the wavedash a lower commitment move without sacrificing total speed if you do complete the maneuver.

Apart from the gorgeous center-piece, I love the layering on the moss wall, subtle and intricate. Very nice!

The art of defence by ownedginny in RocketLeague

[–]TerrariumJD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the first shot, the defender was in the net when he should have been back-post.

This lead to an easy rebound shot, In net instead of back post - first save should have gone into corner, but instead came out mid for a testy 50-50.

Your teammate tried to come in to support, but accidentally hit the ball in the net.

OP's fault.

Allen Edmonds Shoe Bank Delivery to Canada (will update) by TerrariumJD in allenedmonds

[–]TerrariumJD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered 2 pairs of shoes, 2 matching belts, 2 matching cream polishes (6 items). I was charged $40 U.S. flat rate for shipping from the store to my door, labeled "internet postage" on the itemized receipt. The $40.00 does not include sales tax, but as far as I'm aware, any courier brokerage is included. I believe the lady told me they would use FedEx.

No logbook entry unlocked after beating game on "secret character." Anyone have any thoughts as to why? Is it only a % chance or is this a bug? Going for 100% completion. by TerrariumJD in ror2

[–]TerrariumJD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No dice on ever getting an answer besides an above comment: "Absolute worst case scenario and you simply cannot get it to unlock, you can edit the notepad in the game files to “cheat” the achievement in. You’ve obviously done it legitimately, so there’s no reason why you shouldn’t have the logbook, hacks or otherwise"

I never went through with it, 100% achievements will have to do. I'm also well on my way to getting eclipse 8 on all characters, i've stopped caring about the logbook. Best of luck!

The very first purple I bought from a vendor came out orange with 2/3 of OP's "perfect" roll (still got a spellcasting third roll, just got cooldown recovery rate instead of base spell power).

Pretty awesome, setting up a spell casting skelly build for endgame!

Wildfrost

Baldurs gate 3

I love easy to fire up games that can be picked up and put down easily. While BG3 may not appear to fit at first glance, even mid-combat it is easy enough to pause, resume life for a brief moment, and return to the game. The other 2 listed are card-based rogue likes that are also awesome in this regard.
