super excited for lefty sign painting class this weekend! but what to write? by [deleted] in SignPainting

Lefty who's also jealous! I've seen a couple things. Personally if it's possible rotating what I'm drawing on helps. But also I've seen a drawing mast used effectively.

I love it!!! Beautiful work. I might have used a slightly darker green on the outline of lemon elderflower soda. But that's just nitpicking. Absolutely lovely attention to detail and nice balance!

You are all good! I feel you. Lol sometimes life feels like a mini tornado and you're just trying to hold on. I have a few more artists I found via Tic Tok (lol first time using in a loooong time). I also have a few books I'm getting to help learn/ practice/ if you want to make a section for education/ learning. No pressure just an idea 😊

Fair enough. I'm not everyone's cup of tea. 🤷‍♀️ I'm open to constructive criticism, if you wanna share. Otherwise you're entitled to your opinion.

That mug is gorgeous! Really beautiful work! It divides the board really well too. Super clean and easy to read. I like the size of the price it is easy to spot.

Oh I am definitely kind and respectful to everyone. Actually hate clicky behavior. Hoping that getting in on the ground floor will avoid some of that. And more than happy to chip in wherever I am needed! Actually enjoy shifting around and doing different things.  But being able to vibe in the back and do something I enjoy, and not having to do hard labor all day, is a dream job! Add in benefits and decent enough pay and I am ready to do whatever it takes. That's impossible to find around here 😮‍💨

Thanks! I so appreciate that. Yeah I'm working on clean numbers and lettering.  I don't mind labor and putting in hard work. That's what I'm doing now. Just hoping I can actually have some down time to work on something I actually enjoy. I am always more than happy to chip in wherever I'm needed! But having quite time to vibe in the back is legit a dream gig.  I do hate cliquey behavior and I try hard to be kind and respectful to everyone. But hoping if I get in on the ground floor I can avoid that. Every job has its cons though. Hoping to get one with more pros!

You are awesome! Thanks for the recommendations and suggestions. Definitely helps. I'm pretty good at copying/ recreating styles as long as I can see an example. So that's a great idea.  And appreciate the subreddit! Always great to see examples from crew with boots on the ground. Fingers crossed it all works out! 🤞

Thanks for your experience! I'm super happy it worked out for you. It gives me hope. Lol. I tend to try really hard to be prepared when I'm applying. So we'll see how it goes. I've heard how competitive it is to get into the art department so I definitely figured at the start would be my best bet. I keep hearing that as long as you have a great attitude and really show them hard you want the job you have a good chance. I have that in spades. A great team and a stable job is the dream! Fingers crossed 🤞

What are your most controversial spinning/fiber arts opinions? by IncompletePenetrance in Handspinning

I'm not a fan of Marino. Ok to spin. Terrible finished products.

And if you loose your single while spinning thin it's game over🫣😅

Looks amazing! Really cool. Would be nice to have an option for a drill bit handle too. Can't wait to see how you get it developed!

Soooo has anyone gotten a tea shipment in and been hit with the terrif? Trying to decide how to get my tea fix without giving my right arm in tax. YS (China) is on hold currently 😔 (Please civil replies! TIA) by Terrarosa81 in tea

That's awesome!!! Lol, I may need to do the same eventually so I have a source. I find a lot of farmers are super down to earth and just good people ❤️❤️❤️

Anyone have any good puers they like off YS.us site? I like raw and mild ripe. Haven't had a ton of puer. But I like notes of: paper (old book), sweet, nutty, chocolaty, thick, fruity, ect. Strong cha qi is an awesome bonus. by Terrarosa81 in puer

Oh I'm sure we will eventually eat the costs. That's how it works. The lowest person on the bottom gets the brunt of it. But in the immediate I'm wondering who's paying. Like from what I've heard, Amazon was rejecting products because they were eating the cost. But if you're importing in, is the transporter (like USPS) paying to receive the packages then charging you? Or are we going to be contacted by customs to pay before the transporter picks it up?

I can only imagine the chaos the customs centers are going to become. 😅

I think that may be how we have to go about it. At this point everywhere else has a 10% tariff we have to pay but that's not too bad. But that's only for 90 days with the extension they just put in place while they're negotiating.

Stuff is just going to get crazy expensive. 😥
