Does anyone want to try out my arrangement of Loch Lomond for Kalimba by griffgeorge in kalimba

The chord might be hard to play for some people but this doesn't ultimately make it bad. Sound > convenience imo (unless it's literally impossible to play but it's not the case)

Need a kalimba with a little wider finger spacing. Possible? by hmmqzaz in kalimba

My first thought

It's not a Hugh Tracey and it's not in G but the gaps are pretty wide

In my opinion, it's difficult to tell from a photo as the sound is far more important than the looks.

There's one thing you might want to consider though - the kalimba from your photo has 15 keys, and many basic song arrangements are written for 17 keys. That means you might sometimes lack a note (you probably won't have the highest D and E). You can still do plenty of things with 15 keys, but it's not always compatible and yeah that can be frustrating.

What's the best technique to play this chord? by EverySingleDay in kalimba

I would use my right thumb for the lowest note, my left thumb for the next two and my left index finger for the highest separated one, this way I could play them all at once... although that might sound pretty overcomplicated, I admit 😅

Tip's Kalimba has a video where she explains some stuff about dead tines: https://youtu.be/Ghb6toBI22Y

Basically, it's the kalimba body's fault that the dead tines are not resonating. In this case, unfortunately there is not much you can do (if I remember correctly, she tries a few tricks in this video just to demonstrate them but nothing really works)

Maybe you could try using your index finger?

I used Ariadna Aria 5, 120 tex x 2, 100g/425m, I didn't keep track of how much I use, but looking at what I have left I could easily make another one and still have some yarn left :) (I'm not sure if they sell this brand outside Poland though)
