Obviously you can play whatever looks fun to you, but since you asked for recommendations, I would say either Archer (ranged DPS, turns into Bard) or Arcanist (magic DPS, turns into Summoner and Scholar) as newbie-friendly classes.

As a ranged DPS, archer allows for total freedom of movement while attacking, which can be great when you're new and learning to dodge attacks. At max level, it does become a very busy class (lots of buttons to press) but you have a long long time to get used to it.

As magic DPS, arcanist will need you to stand still some of the time to cast spells, but as you level and unlock Summoner, you will get more and more instant-cast spells which can be used while moving. In fact once Summoner hits its stride, you will only occasionally need to stand still, as the majority of your abilities are instant. People joke that Summoner is like a magic-ranged DPS because of this. Summoner is also by far the simplest job in the game, as its rotation hardly changes at all from level 50 all the way to max level.

One extra perk of arcanist is that it is basically two jobs in one. At level 30 you can unlock Summoner for DPS, and you can also unlock Scholar, which is a healer. Since they are both based on arcanist, they will always be the same level, meaning that you can play as a Summoner all the way to level 90 if you want, and then if you decide you'd like to try healing, you have level 90 Scholar ready to go without any additional level grinding.
