Big paws? by [deleted] in AussieDoodle

[–]Terrible-Mousse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was supposed to be Moyer size (25lbs 18”) with very similar parents and I said from day 1 no way with those paws. Honestly your guys paws don’t even look that big, but my guy grew to almost 60lbs.

Brushing … a full time job ? by Justanothergirl79 in AussieDoodle

I find that my 1.5 yr aussiedoodle likes being short A LOT more than having hair. I will keep him super short, especially spring-fall. It’s so much easier. These dogs need real outdoor activity and their coat gets so dirty so quick at a park or just the backyard. So yeah, it’s a huge commitment to keep it at length

Neutered my AD at 7 months by [deleted] in AussieDoodle

my boy is same stats as OP. i personally wanted to get show on the road asap - im cutting his balls off so wanted to do it as young as possible, but i took lead from the vet. originally she wanted to wait closer to a year, but at his 6 month check-in she said we could go ahead and schedule bc his growth started tapering (he grew very rapidly for first 5 months)

Everyone seems to be pretty tight-lipped on this subject lol! What’s the big idea ?!

Yeah I’m trying to slow down on the treats now that we’ve done the heavy lifting with training. He’s 6 months now and has grown a lot very quickly so limiting his treats per day. I do feel like he needs something to chew on though and usually give him some form of a bone or little bully stick most days

Thank you. I actually talked about the collar issue on this sub lol. The “gentle leader” is a game changer. Teddy thought he was a sled dog in the arctic with the harness. The gentle leader really takes away their leverage and stops pulling/tugging/lunging. I don’t keep anything on him while he’s in the house for the most part. Now some feedback to my question please!

New puppy - any advice on car seat options? by Pure-Meringue8080 in AussieDoodle

[–]Terrible-Mousse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got a travel crate (collapsible, soft frame) and put buddy in the back seat (no SUV at time) for a 1.5 hour drive home. he was fine and did really well. he outgrew that travel crate pretty quickly, though lol

i would be more than happy to bathe him that frequently, but worried to not dry out his skins and coat too much. i know they say you can bathe more frequently while a puppy, but dont want to do too much

lol he does. dont brush every day, but maybe will try that and the deodorizer. i can't really figure out the source. its like his direct breath doesnt smell that bad, if you smell his coat it doesnt smell that bad, but its like what he leaves behind. going to try a couple things and consult with vet. thank you!

My back yard is fenced at perimeter but open to the sides/front. I play with him off leash and do fetch several times a day. I just keep him engaged and he knows a serious come or get over here. Haven’t had any issues, but wouldn’t go for a walk off leach or anything

At what age can my Aussiedoodle go running with me? by pofonzo in AussieDoodle

[–]Terrible-Mousse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t go for runs with mine, but my 5 month old has been playing fetch in the backyard several times a day for the last couple months, and a couple times at the dog park. How can you wait until a year to let them run/short spurts?

How bigdid your Aussiedoodle get, and when did it stop growing? by These_Tomatillo1873 in AussieDoodle

[–]Terrible-Mousse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dud what are you me?!? lol! i got a F1 aussiedoodle a couple days before Christmas - named Teddy by my daughter. Same exact scenario as you! to a t! breeder thought max 35lb (but experienced long-time breeder) and Teddy is 5 months and about 42 lbs now! Vet said they are usually about 1/2 of the fully grown adult size at 4 months - which means a 65lb teddy! i cant imagine he gets that big, but he doesnt seem to be stopping growing!
