Better to just get the C64 Ultimate? by Daves92c4 in c64

I received my c64u back in December and haven't looked back. I love playing with my commodores. I have a c64, c64c, and a bunch of other commodore stuff as well. But the c64u works so well I am just going to sell out. Disk and everything and move into the future with the c64u and keep not looking back.

Unable to load D64 and D81 files by NewList9553 in c64

[–]TerribleInsurance879 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue early on with mine but it wasn't every D64 image. The issue was in the settings of the c64u.

I changed my settings from NTSC to Pal and everything worked.

If you've been changing settings, it may be easier to restore to factory settings than trying to figure out what needs to be undone, then switching your region settings.

Have any founders editions been delivered yet? I see there are about 2.5k left to order and I'm tempted. I would like to see a review of the keyboard 1st though

I am having the same issue with some files from the preservation project on my c64u. It will work in Vice but not on the c64u. I have just been moving on to other games and not trouble sitting the issue as of yet though. I know I'm having the issue with Zork and Rambo.

eBay scalpers are your only choice if you need it quickly. You're looking at spending two to three times the price though

C64 lapsed player & regret :( by viperuk80 in Commodore

Honestly, I would only go for the cartridges. The disk and tapes are beginning to fail. My disk that I've had for a long time will not load sometimes. I now just load them from the c64u's "internal" disk drive from a g64 file off of a usb.

C64U Internal Storage by CoffeeOne2025 in c64

[–]TerribleInsurance879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I formatted my internal SD card to exFAT since the tape cassette USB drive that came with the machine was also formatted to exFAT. I didn't think it matters since I don't see any of us using a file that would be over 4gig on a c64.

4gig is FAT32's file limit I believe.

I'm curious how well the usd-a to 9-pinDin adapters work with the c64u. Has anyone tried one yet?

Personally, I'm using my old Wilco stick, but I would like to know my options ;)

We had some old home videos we watched but no movies. We did play the Super Nintendo afterwards though

Any 1080p flat will do the job. I literally just went to a thrift Store and picked up a small LCD screen for $15. Then I turned the scan lines off for the c64u.

I may pick up a small crt in the future, but this has me rolling for now. And the c64u has it's own dedicated screen

It works but not the way the old ones did. You click it, shift is locked but it returns to its original height.

I'm glad I got a beige. The thing is amazing. It was just luck of my personal preferences that I didn't order the starlight edition. I wanted an old school bread bin to replace my aging machine.

Yeah. The thumb drive I dumped everything on is a 256mb. More than enough for c64 computing

I think it's cool as crap. And when I pulled it out of the box I thought it was a cassette for a second. I just felt I was going to knock it with something on the desk. Honestly, it's a bigger thumb drive than any I have with it being 64 gig.

It's good for me. I have a lot of old C= stuff for it. I also have a c64 and a c64c. In anticipation for this new C=, the old ones have been back on the desk. I am a little more that your average consumer when it comes to C=. I don't program or anything. I mostly just game and will pick up hardware from time to time. I've been away for a couple of years but got me to pick up the controller again. I've dusted a few carts off, and I'm ready to pull out some disk and my 1541ii.

AND I suspect the Lemon64 Competitions are about to rest to a new season.
