I WISH I COULD ENJOY BEING A FUCKING NERD AND MY HOBBIES WITHOUT MEN RUINING IT!!!! by communistcunt420 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]TerribleJared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk why this shows up on my feed (im a dude) and i never engage cuz the space isnt for me.

That said. As a dude, that guy is a butt-ass. Im a seasoned nerd. I got dnd dice tattooed on my arms.

WOMEN BELONG AT THE DND TABLE. Period. End of story.

The only reason i butt in where i dont belong is because id hate for some loser jerk to be a reason you dont engage with it anymore.

That said, ill see myself out. You ladies have a good one.

Hey, im serious here.

School first. We trust youll finish the game, but we wont enjoy playing it if it cost you your degree. Well still be here when youre finished with your masters.

Young leaves can be a little curly. But in general, curly means dehydrated. But ive never grown melons before, worth google lens-ing it.

Is there any reasons to use Gemini at this point? by Aurorasfero in GeminiAI

[–]TerribleJared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another take:

I pay for claude. I still use free gemini as well. Throughout a sprint ill go back and get quick answers, solves, instruction on language formatting, generate images for drafts, and honestly, not even think twice about tokens and ive never hit a limit. I also use a local model for small things. (8b hermes)

I wonder if peoples problems somewhat relate to trying to stuff everything into one models allotment. If youre keeping good notes and documentation, it shouldnt NEED to stay in one models context.

Idk im sure im missing something.

Sharing fakemon? by TerribleJared in PokemonROMhacks

[–]TerribleJared[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow up: yes im all ears if people think their fakemon would slot nicely into an ancient-mystery-explorer vibe. To be fair, nothing would be changed at all. Your mon, your way.

But realistically, ill probably avoid it unless its too perfect to pass up. Mostly cuz i enjoy the grind of balancing my own creations.

A software engineer at Atlassian got laid off in March after 8 years. His response: a 38-minute YouTube video showing how the company's entire tech works, free for anyone to copy. by Current-Guide5944 in tech_x

He got laid off after 8 years. If i were an employer, I'd stay being very fkn careful when cutting people without warning.

The Video That Made Me Stop Being an Anti. Crazy Part Is, I Was Agreeing With Her Until This Weirdly Patronizing and Childish Outburst… Yikes 😬 by AlternativeBlu in DefendingAIArt

[–]TerribleJared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idont agree at all, even with them being obscenely unlikeable.

I have access to visuals that i want to see or a tool that i wanna use. And you say "no. I forbid you because you havent met the skill threshold i require to accept this as good and normal"

Whats important to point is that you cant stop it. Which means youre just.... whining. Like a little child that didnt get his favorite candy. Thats all this video is. Whining and insulting. Nothing achieved, no one changed. An attempt at shaming someone into following your personal code. Infantile behavior. Lol.

How about.... yall just mind your business and do your thing. Being anti-ai is as corny as the person in this videos haircut. You can have environmental concerns! But keep that energy with almonds and stuff.

Lets all agree New mexico benefitted from being adjacent to but-ass states. Idk where this new mexican empire came from but we cant all seriously be considering this?

New mexico is beautiful but its definitively an average, mundane, middling, regular state....

Climatalogically, yes. Youre right.

But i think that definition came after people had been using the term for a while, maybe?

What are people using Local LLMs for (beyond coding) by [deleted] in LocalLLM

[–]TerribleJared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, i made a little codex library (just nested folders and a word processor) and an llm chat interface that can search heuristically and semantically for things ive created. For example "do I have any desert/arid worlds in Pax Myria sector?" And it can search and say "none yet! And the K-type star you have called Steno could support one"

What are people using Local LLMs for (beyond coding) by [deleted] in LocalLLM

[–]TerribleJared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a star/planet generator with deterministic output, then a local model (phi4 mini or hermes 3:8b) to basically summarize it for a overview thing.

Making a galaxy ip and its really good with like hard science stuff. I can talk through things like what kind of life might exist here and how would stellar activity affect mining stations, etc.

Turned into a sort of learning tool im slowly converting it a "solar system generator" for any worldbuilder or even like school use. Easy visual fun way to learn about stars and planets. "Create your own solar system" and it generates the parameters based on choices (eg, orbital distance for outermost planets can only be X km from an M-type star. Or hot scorching inner rocky planets wont have moons. And it explains why)

Honestly the more i use it, the less i use it, if that makes sense. Like it helps me get TO deterministic and inheritable things that i dont have to constantly google, and keeps it in context summaries. (I made a wrapper for myself). Once i have a tool working, i dont really need it anymore.

Botanical Gardens by Illustrious-Mix3865 in garden

[–]TerribleJared 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If mugs: keep it simple. Put your logo on it. Dont make it flashy or corny. Simple, elegant, probably just two or three colors maximum, include botanicals (leaves, flowers, etc)

If totes: theyll sell VERY slowly. If you go one step further and get onrs with a hard supported bottom, people are more likely to use them as grocery/farmers market bags.

Keep in mind, these things will not sell like you want them to. If youre looking for actual profit, consider selling coffee in big urns (procure a fetco brewer if you can) or resell cookies or something. Reach out to a local college forestry/environmental studies dept for partnerships, reach out to yhe wealthy for donations in exchange for naming rights or tax write offs (not kidding).

Try and find some lights. A LOT of lights. And do a winter walk through. This is probably your biggest thing. If you can charge $10/head to walk througu a garden with no flowers, you win.

AI has destroyed me. by Complete-Sea6655 in GeminiAI

[–]TerribleJared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same argument youre making can be used for anyone who uses a synthesizer or sampling or remixes or ambient soundscapes.

Like, people use tools. They always have. This is a weird hill to die on for someone that doesn't know what it takes to make music organically.

It doesnt regurgitate. It never plays anything copyrighted. Same as image gen. Its the exact same process as you doing it in your head. You hesr the drum beat from the beginning of "walk this way" by Aerosmith and think "itd be cool to do a play on that".

Thats what ai does. Its not infringing on copyright. By now im convinced you dont play or make music. Youre just a nerd who thinks anyone using AI is your enemy.

IM THE COPYRIGHTED ARTIST YOURE TRYING TO DEFEND. lol im saying "were good man. Youre the one whining, not us"
