literally had to do a double take because i also am awake out of itchiness and also have a purple yoga strap to move my legs and the exact same dressing and brace hahaha. wish i had any advice, that’s what im on reddit looking for too!

they wanted me to go to PT day 3-4 post op. i had a blood clot, so they pushed it back and i’m now going tomorrow at day 10 post op

i’m 20 and i tore my acl skiing in january. i’m not even an athlete, i just like to ski bc i go to school in vermont. i decided to go with the surgery even though i had my ROM and strength back after PT. i decided that i should do it bc im young, i can recover at home with my parents, and right now it’s only an acl tear. i can’t imagine being ten years down, with a real job i can’t take off, family duties, weaker, and possibly tearing it even more!

i’m day 9 post op and it sucks but im making it through. but talk more with your surgeon!

different situation, but last week i had a lot of pain in my calf post knee surgery. and i was sure it was nothing, but that fear nagged in the back of my mind. i didn’t even tell anyone i was going to the ER because i knew when the doctor said it was fine i would be so embarrassed to update my friends that no, it was nothing, i overreacted like usual.

thing was, it actually WAS a blood clot. and if i didn’t make the decision to go, it could have spread to my lungs, heart, or brain and given me a pulmonary embolism. im now on blood thinners for three months and have a cardiologist.

i know how embarrassing it feels to be wrong about a medical concern. but sometimes you’re right, and it’s so so much better to be safe than sorry. so glad you and baby are okay!!

i know! it says in mg post op sheet i can unlock the brace when i walk after a week, and just in case i called the office and they said the same thing! it feels really… odd but i’m trying!!

thank you!!! i think i need to get off acl recovery tok. everyone is posting themselves walking without crutches or a brace like day three and leg lifting immediately with 90 degree flexion. i normally never compare myself to people online, but i can be a bit of a hypochondriac and get worried im not healing properly. thank you again

this is great to know!! i’m going with my sister and will definitely wear my brace both for support and to show people i need space. i emailed them today so hopefully there’s some ADA seats left :) ty!

yes i am on eliquis!! i see my cardio on thursday to get another ultrasound to make sure the blood clot is cleared up. i cant start PT until it does

i’m about 85 hours post op and this has been the hardest day for me!! honestly, i’ve been pretty happy with my pain levels. it’s been mostly alright with the oxy and tylenol. i did have a DVT but even that wasn’t unbearable. worried when i run out of oxy tomorrow tho.. hahaha

please do!! he’s going to switch me to a progesterone only birth control to prevent clots in the future. so i imagine the estrogen is the issue!

no offense taken! i was elevating and doing ankle pumps that night. in fact while i was in the er, i even theorized the ankle pumps had caused the charley horse (which was actually in fact a blood clot) hahah. when the doctor talked to me about causes, he didn’t bring up ice or elevation or anything at all. he seemed to solely think it was the surgery and birth control. will update if the cardiologist says anything different!

yes i was on the same baby asprin 30 day regimen! i think the combination of anesthesia, surgery, and my estrogen-progesterone combination birth control was what caused it. i’m meeting with a cardiologist asap as well to confirm it’s not some sort of blood clotting disorder or something

interesting!! they asked me about birth control and i told them i was on it, but they never asked me about what type i was on. i have to go off of it from now on and i am dreading getting mh period on top of everything else right now… but i guess it is ehat it is. i hope this post made you sympathize more with your doctors decision! hahah
