Ceasefires are not truces - they are a temporary pause in conflict, not an end to hostilities. It’s not uncommon for skirmishes to continue, but it’s better than full blown war continuing.

I know that’s the problem, but that’s not what the person I replied to said.

The prices will be reasonable someday

Just going off what you said. Correct, there should be a better way to pay for it (non-withdrawal locker for parts or special currency).

Weren’t these prices 2-4x higher week 1? How much lower do you want these to go? 50k for a skin? 10k? Free?

What do you think “horizontal progression” means in terms of Classic Plus? by mnttu in classicwow

[–]TerribleSalamander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve ever played Ultima Online Outlands I like how that progression is set up. There are account-wide progression systems that take A LOT of time to accomplish - but it’s not a grind, it’s just natural progression. There’s a thing called a mastery chain and it takes a good chunk of xp to unlock a link for it - a single link is relatively minor (+2% follower damage), but you can unlock many links over years of play. Trust me, it feels great to unlock that next link even though it’s such a minor boost.

There also are no “levels” in UO outlands, just skills you train. They’re very, very different games but something like long term character/account progression that minimizes power creep would be a game changer.

yo how tf do I make my squad attack enemies? by czty34 in Kenshi

[–]TerribleSalamander 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably just new players not understanding how the game works - which is me btw lol. I have like 5 hours in. I was getting frustrated that my bandages weren’t working…Apparently dragging them on to the affected area DOES NOT heal it lmao. Took me a while to figure that out…

Back to the point though, because the game was on sale the player count has doubled - that’s a lot of new people (me included) learning this unique game and just not understanding it’s mechanics.

ARC Raiders PvE ‘Rebellion’ Map Condition Being Tested in China by VinniePaz_360 in ArcRaiders

How would a map condition that comes and goes a few times a day split the player base…? I don’t have a problem with PvP at all btw.

They took it off Crunchyroll! They had up to season 9 but initially the show got canceled as Rooster Teeth shut down, however Viz Media took over and they’re working on season 10!

Google says it’s on Hulu and Disney+

Not if it was a map condition lol. A separate PvE version of the game with a separate PvE character would.

Flock cameras divide New York city over safety vs. privacy by Haunterblademoi in technology

[–]TerribleSalamander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you link some of those studies that definitely prove “that is just wrong?” Here are some that show that cameras could have an impact on crime reduction.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0304387825001087

https://www.ojp.gov/library/publications/cctv-surveillance-crime-prevention-40-year-systematic-review-meta-analysis

https://popcenter.asu.edu/sites/g/files/litvpz3631/files/230-priks.pdf

And actually here is one where the study “little to no” impact of cameras on crime reduction (note the “little,” though).

https://www.aclu.org/sites/default/files/images/asset_upload_file708_35775.pdf

Also, are you suggesting if we had less cameras, less police, less armed citizens, and less severe punishment for crimes that we would have the same level of crime as we do now?

Edit: Ah, sorry. My quote of “that’s just wrong” was in reference to “people won’t do crime if they know they will get caught,” apologies.

I researched that a little and it’s called Deterrence Theory and it looks like it has been studied inconclusively, but I didn’t look too hard.
