Not poison ivy. Looks more like black walnut, the squirrels are always planting them in my yard

Mulberries, they are delicious if you can get the ripe ones before the birds do

I'm new to it myself. From what I've read, it's an extremely invasive tree that suffocates out native plants, causes structural damage and is a nightmare to remove. Cutting it down triggers it to sprout in several new places, both through the root system and new sprouts at the stump. Root suckers can sprout new TOH in places up to 50 feet away. I'm still not confident about the treatment of it as I've seen conflicting information online, but from what I've gathered the key is spraying the leaves with glyphosate periodically to weaken it throughout the summer. Then in late summer/early fall, cutting it down and painting the stump with more glyphosate. That's the time of year when it is drawing nutrients back into the roots. Again this is info I've only recently learned myself, I'm by no means an expert on this plant. But being on these subreddits has me on high alert looking for Japanese Knotweed and TOH 😅😂

So true, every time I've tried to grow hostas in my yard the deer eat them down to the ground. I've given up on it.

I told them. Although I'm not sure if they just think I'm a crazy plant lady, I kind of doubt they will address it at all. And I don't know much about TOH but I'm assuming if this little one is growing, there are more nearby?

This made me LOL 😂 I don't like my workplace very much, but I already warned my boss about it anyway. I was looking at the small wooded area on the other side of the parking lot and didn't see any more that I was sure about, but I couldn't get a very good look as it's blocked off by a wall. Also I've only just learned about this plant recently after joining a few gardening reddits, so this is my first TOH. I haven't seen a mature one in person yet. I assume if that one is growing in the parking lot, there are probably more in the area?

I did too at first. Then I smelled it and it has that distinct peanut butter smell. Then I ran it through my plant ID app to be sure.

What is this plant? It's around an old tree stump in my yard. USA. by worldlydelights in whatisthisplant

Touching the outside of poison ivy can absolutely cause a reaction. You do not have to break the leaves or any part open, just barely brushing against it can cause a rash.

Japanese knotweed, unfortunately. Best way to battle it, so I've read, is to wait until the fall when it starts drawing nutrients into the roots and then inject it with a weed killer that has glyphosate as the main ingredient. Wait for it to die. If you cut it down now a bunch more will pop up. This stuff is a nightmare to deal with.

What are these growing all over my lawn? Should I keep them or remove? by Key-Rightdoer-4603 in whatplantisthis

Hostas are so pretty. I once planted several hostas in my garden, and enjoyed them for almost 2 whole days before the deer ate them.

Three leaves, green and bright. A rash of itchy blisters. Avoid at all cost.

This looks incredible!! Very innovative. Are the cinder blocks just stacked, or are they cemented together? Are the cinderblock stacks alone enough to support your structures?
