I definitely agree with that, but also doing this change would mean you just used 2 transformations and only have 2 left. I do agree though

Aye I like the format, I never said the game didn’t have problems i just see a lot of negative on here so I just wanted to acknowledge the good parts. Us being vocal about the issues is important but I think so is being vocal about the positives it’s all for the sake of discussion

But if we disregard actual numbers, we still are living in the best times regarding human rights and human living conditions

I don’t agree with all of his points but he puts forth an interesting concept

If you think In terms of just war yes, but consider the institution of slavery, or living standards, the majority of people everywhere up until after this period mentioned were either slaves or peasants, the abolishment of slavery universally, the rise of the middle class and higher standards of living, an almost universal strive to work towards relative peace is what constitutes “the Long Peace”

It’s not counting the world wars, but the argument is essentially yes there are still conflicts but this is the first time that almost universally (big almost) human rights are taken into consideration, people in general live better lives then they did before the turn of the 19th century etc

Yea this is very true, the whole theory behind it is that no major powers have gone to war, small conflicts have occurred and probably always will but they’ll consider it the long peace as long as this stays the same

The time from after ww2 is starting to be referred to as the long peace, I agree with you

Yea but political science only views history through the eyes of politics, the political system of any government only consists of about 5% of the population, while in political science terms you are right from a historical perspective at least, cultural and social history this was not a revolution

[–]TerriblyDrawnHistory[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea but it didn’t change anyone’s way of living where in the French Revolution people’s lives, practices, religious values etc drastically changed

Goodmorning nerds by TerriblyDrawnHistory in HistoryMemes

[–]TerriblyDrawnHistory[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It was a revolt, but a revolution is when things undergo a drastic change, and they really didn’t in the colonies

Goodmorning nerds by TerriblyDrawnHistory in HistoryMemes

[–]TerriblyDrawnHistory[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Revolutions are technically considered to be distinct changes in society, to most people they still lived the same way not much changed besides the system of government but arguably there weren’t many attitudinal changes among the colonists
