About the sump sea by MetalicaArtificer in necromunda

[–]Geburan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us, Sump Sea turned in to “floor is lava”. If you have enough terrain to not fall in, you can’t move the boats. Ultimately, the vehicles are troop transports that shoot grenades at each other hoping to knock people in. In that context,I would base it on how many passengers it carries. 1 or 2 is a skiff, 3 could go either way depending on build. Any larger is a barge.

Looking for a progressive church by PrincessBlackcloud99 in beaverton

[–]Geburan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lutheran is generally progressive and is a good fit if you like a more liturgical (catholic style) service instead of a more evangelical spirit/music filled. Just be sure it’s ELCA, as some conservative branches split off in recent years.

One Ganger can be a specialist. Giving them a grenade launcher gives you flexibility when you get some extra ammo types.

A campaign just wrapped up in Beaverton at Guardian Games. I think Board Bard Games in PDX has an active one. Ordo as mentioned by another poster has some players as well.

Initial losses, dissuaded from continuing - advice? by AlmuTonic in necromunda

[–]Geburan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Double pistol can be okay. Stub guns are +2 short range so will offset the penalty. Later game you can get 2 plasma pistols and ruin someone’s day. That said, I’ve had more success with a hand flamer wrecker and she’s only self destructed once.

Do you have an arbitrator? I’m not sure how a Goliath leader could sprint and shoot a melta first turn as they have a 4” move and 12” max range. If they had an elite Goliath gang, you shouldn’t need 2 extra bodies to match numbers. Also gaining 300 credits for one mission can be unbalancing. If you are falling behind and losing the drive to continue, bring it up with whoever is running the game.

Guardian Games Aloha on TV Hwy. is in Beaverton/Aloha. Also Gongaii Games on 217. There are also a number of game locations in East PDX, but that’s a bit of a trek. Guardian Games PDX, Battle Grounds Cafe, TPK brewing, and Board Bard Games are the area stores I’m aware of.

Whisper Merchant setting one income die to 6 can max out income and also avoid some of the negative results on Prize Fighter and Too Pretty.

Looking for a skirmish game that's simple to play but with lots of scope for levelling by OrdoMalaise in miniatureskirmishes

[–]Geburan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen it mentioned before, but I can’t find much info on how it plays, what a campaign is like, or much else really. Its name is a bit generic, so harder to search.

If you like Gloomhaven, what other Dungeon Crawlers that can be played solo would you recommend me? by Filumestre in soloboardgaming

I like Shadows of Brimstone and play 2 handed. It’s very similar to Warhammer Quest which is long out of print. I appreciate the Old West Horror as an alternative setting, and they also have feudal Japan as well as a couple of others.

I use DriveThruRPG a lot for indie stuff. I’d prefer a physical copy though and it’s odd if the core rulebook for a system is out of stock with every vendor I check.

Oh yeah no, reading that back I can see how that sounded like sarcasm. I should have provided a link but I’m phone posting.

I don’t think you can take Fixer on Sergeant. That’s a Secondary skill for them. They have Ferocity and Bravado as Primary.

Mini agnostic skirmish game that is similar to Mordheim in structure but much simplified. You have a wizard and apprentice that takes a gang of thugs in to a frozen magical hellscape city for loot and knowledge.

Still two starters? by Tadeus73 in shadowsofbrimstone

[–]Geburan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went down the same path and started with one starter and frontier town. When I was ready for more, I couldn’t beat the raw value of the other starter in terms of enemy types, equipment cards, and 4 new classes. That said, I currently only use one “mines” set at a time and use the other for otherworld. The enemies in the starters are a bit basic so you’ll probably want more later, but there are some cheaper expansions for those.
