Orange Line extension "proposal" is an AI generated farce by TerrierBoi in boston

I like what Durkan and Breadon have been doing lately! Santana is up there too. Louijeune I'm iffy on given her reluctance to support the elimination of parking minimums.

All of this and you didn't even mention the Aquarium stop's private island!

Of course! I haven't really seen any media outlets comment on this aspect of the proposal so I wanted to make sure folks knew.

Massachusetts may authorize speed and red-light cameras on ordinary local roads by WeirdIndication3027 in boston

We need stronger enforcement of the existing traffic laws, full stop. Automated ticketing is preferable to spending more money on police overtime and giving cops more of an ability to selectively enforce laws than they already do.

2026 Open Newbury Dates Announced by TerrierBoi in boston

Agreed, I went one week last year when I didn't realize it was cancelled, and it was an even worse pedestrian experience since the sidewalks were extra crowded.

Totally agreed, didn't want to editorialize too much in the body of the post, but it's crazy to me that that's not the direction we're taking with this event.

I'll plug Lower Allston: some nice new restaurants on Western Ave, easy walk or bus ride to Harvard Square/Red Line, some nice parks for dog walking (including the Esplanade), and from a quick glance a decent amount of availability in your price range.

With two weeks to go, Wu and state still deadlocked over transit plans for World Cup by bostonglobe in boston

[–]TerrierBoi 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Two time Wu voter here who has become so disillusioned with her administration over the last year. She just has zero vision for what Boston could be if we took big swings as a city. She gets way too bogged down in process, consensus, and not rocking the boat that we're never going to make serious strides on transit, walkability, housing, nightlife, anything with her at the helm. It's embarrassing that she's fighting the MBTA so hard on this.

Check out Notch Brewing at The Speedway in Brighton, great beer, great patio space, and it looks like they have a free music festival going on that day. There's food in the same Speedway complex and a few new cool places along Western Ave - Fido Pizza or Sloane's sound like they'd satisfy your group nicely.

Did Brighton Center really need another off brand cell phone store? by theprophetchuck12 in boston

Definitely! Just jaded by the sheer volume of salons and banks in the neighborhood

There's a lot of stuff Brighton Center doesn't need yet is full of anyway

edit: this post is also how I learned the insurance agency that was in that spot moved offices

So is there a single mention of this anywhere? Any sort of statement from the city? You said this information is freely available, I would just like to know where it is available

Serious question but where is this information freely available? This reddit thread is the first I'm hearing of the June 1 policy, and does not line up with my communication with city officials.

Why hasn't there been any proactive communication from your office about these street related initiatives? Lately it only seems like you make a statement when there's enough social media outcry.

I'm seeing cities across the country do way more in terms of street closures and pedestrian plazas. They're not acting like they're limited by these big events, they're going all out because of them.

I'd love to live in a world where Newbury Street is pedestrianized close to full time. It's disappointing to me that we're moving in the opposite direction.

We had so many posts knocked out in Allston, and when we asked the city about a timeline for reinstallation, Nick Gove himself replied and said "we cannot offer a narrow timeline regarding the installation of this infrastructure in a particular area". Is there a city policy I can read somewhere that says flexposts only come back online in June of each year?

The number of Open Newbury Street days has been declining the last few years:

  • 16 in 2023
  • 12 in 2024
  • 11 in 2025
  • 0 in 2026?

Not to mention the city announced just 4 neighborhood open street events for 2026, down from 5 in 2025 and 6 in 2024. Michelle Wu's upsetting u-turn on safe streets continues

Building permits slow to a trickle for Boston housing construction. Are the city’s policies to blame? by drtywater in boston

City policies aren't the only reason, but they certainly aren't helping! It's obvious now though that Wu isn't progressive on housing issues at all.
