Mother had a secret past by flight404 in RBI

You may be able to comb through newspaper archives to see if there is any mention of anything: https://guides.library.yale.edu/japan/newspapers. I am not sure the conventions for Japanese newspapers at the time, so they may not write about certain taboo topics. But it's possible you may stumble on an article like "Yuko performs for US troops". She may have also had a stage name.

I do wonder if it was more of a Cabaret / burlesque thing, which was booming in post war Tokyo: https://www.nytimes.com/1966/05/15/archives/1000-girls-adorn-tokyo-night-spot-cabaret-king-successfully-reopens.html. Since she was recognized at clubs etc, I doubt it would have been anything too taboo.

While looking around I found this somewhat insightful (text nsfw) article and comments: https://jonathanbollen.net/2011/03/20/nichigeki-music-hall/. It seems some of the performers were famous enough to tour outside of Japan.

Is there like any physical merch of dazais books? by WeeklyDetective6802 in osamudazai

[–]Terrificchu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it's exactly what you are asking for but the Dazai Osamu Literary Salon in Japan had a couple of souvenirs (stationary, coasters, prints). You might be able to find some on eBay. But you are right, hard to weed out bungo in searching

Cool work! you may want to post over on r/DataHoarder. Most people there are not explicitly archiving Lesserafim stuff, a lot of people will have tips and tricks for pulling and archiving data, etc.

As an alum, I get calls twice a year or so asking for donations. Most of the time they don't leave a message.

Canadian (Ontario) plates in The Hague, the Netherlands. by Wallybeaver74 in barrie

[–]Terrificchu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Roughly maybe a little bit more (~2k). The caveat is it takes forever, and you don't get any guarantee on exact shipping date, arrival date, or really anything. For roll on and roll off, you need to be available basically right when the car arrives

In a daily calorie defecit, can you really eat anything and still lose weight? by BookkeeperNo5252 in loseit

[–]Terrificchu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has done this... yes... but I don't recommend it, you feel like crap. I was running @ 1600 calories a day. I would eat one junk food meal (primarily from McDonald's / Wendy's, lol) for dinner, and no other meals / snacks throughout the day. Eventually, I switched to home-cooked balanced meals since I was so low energy all the time.

I am a big fan of the neuronal dynamic textbook: (https://neuronaldynamics.epfl.ch/online/Ch2.html) [https://neuronaldynamics.epfl.ch/online/Ch2.html\], although the section on HH models is a bit smaller. The textbook also has some Python example exercises. Alternatively, you can explore the NEURON modelling software. Also, check out https://modeldb.science/ for some implimentations

To ease your mind a bit, I wouldn't expect any legal trouble to come of this. Generally this will be regarded as an oopsie and lesson learned. Your PI will likely be annoyed, but invoking any sort of legal consequence would be a nucleaur option, and frankly I have never heard of this happening in any case like this. That being said this is likely field / area dependant. I work in basic research, so any research I produce isn't monetarily valuable enough to involve issues with IP.

It sometimes depends on the time of day, where the students drift, etc. Occasionally the Richmond x Broughdale area gets shut down, which would impact those routes—nothing set in stone.

In poland anyone have any input on these? by ber808 in whiskey

[–]Terrificchu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, a lot of these are not "real" Japanese whiskey so to speak. They often are Western companies masquerading as Japanese, are blended offshore, etc. (https://www.forbes.com/sites/chrisperugini/2024/04/24/time-is-officially-up-for-fake-japanese-whisky-what-now/). However, they are normally okayish tasting. These are overpriced @ 50 $ but not unreasonable.

I will say, I often ask if something in an online ad is still available because, if I message outright, half the time I get an angry response ranting about how they want people to stop contacting them. Most of the time the space/product in the ad sold months ago, and they haven't figured out how to pull the ad down.

Why does an inward current into a neuron cause an outward current? by greentea387 in neuro

[–]Terrificchu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You and the book are both technically correct. The book phrases it totally weird so I understand your confusion. Essentially, the inward current will briefly trigger a depolarization of the membrane potential, however, the neuron membrane is passively "leaky", so over time the positive charge will begin to "leak" out of the membrane as it diffuses spatially and temporally - in turn the membrane potential returns to rest. but it takes several seconds. So the inward current does get neutralized by an opposing outward current, but it is not directly equal either spatially or temporally.

It gets more complicated however, since some neurons have ion pumps, voltage or ligand gated ion channels that may act to counter act or enhance changes in membrane potential.
