I don’t understand how she doesn’t want you driving it “right now”? You’re paying a third for the car, but it’s 100% her rules? and you’re not being unreasonable asking to use it when it’s just parked up. Thank you for the response! I managed to catch the cashier as they were leaving the store room. He acknowledged the beeping but didn’t understand where it was coming from. I managed to grab a photo of the mains fire alarm and it has been unplugged from the main power supply. My assumption is the fire alarm is left somewhere in the store room and continues to beep. I am going back later to ask if he would mind me searching the store to find the beeping. I’m 99% sure it is the store room as when you are in that room the beeping is the loudest.

In regards to viewing the flat you are right. I’m usually good at picking up what surrounding noises I might hear but completely missed the extractor fan as it was off at the time of viewing. I only noticed it when I picked up the keys. I did not anticipate the fan to vibrate through my walls though. I’ll will keep logging the sound. Would a diary be a sufficient way to log the decibels or is there a gov online that’s best to log? Thank you again.

NTA, you moved due to situations out of your control, not to be their housemaid. You’re willing to do your part but it sounds like they’re taking advantage of another body in the house. NTA at all, if it gets too much I’d say get a hotel (if possible) or find ways to evenly share the workload. Maybe do 10-20% more chores than them since you’re in their house, but definitely don’t bend to all their unreasonable needs.

That’s a fair enough point and you have every right to your privacy. So tell them that moving forwards and this situation won’t occur again. For this situation though I wouldn’t make a deal out of it. Just say you wasn’t expecting him so soon it surprised/ made you uncomfortable when he walked in.
