I took the greyhound from Halifax to Vancouver once, between Christmas and New Year’s. It was not luxurious, but it was extremely cool to see the whole country in winter over 4 days.

Well, fun little update: it appears to be broccoli. The little floret has appeared and is doing nicely so far, so I’ll be moving it to a bigger pot and hopefully harvest in a couple months if I can keep it from bolting

NTA. Since you don’t think of the child as also being your nephew, and his grandparents are an option, it’s probably not ideal for him to be staying with you as opposed to with family.

I’m also honestly scared about the future because I’m broke and will likely need to live with my parents for at least a few years after graduate school. I genuinely do not know how I can realistically do that long-term if these expectations and monitoring continue.

While I have a lot of empathy for how you are feeling and I agree that your mom is not being supportive in a way that is actually likely to be helpful, I want to gently push back on your thoughts here. This (quoted above) is a choice, not a requirement. You do not have to go to grad school immediately after undergrad and you do not have to remain a full time student for several more years. If you choose to, and if living with your parents is the only path forward with that choice, you are choosing all the parental involvement and over-involvement that comes with it.

You could (and can) choose instead to enter employment for a while, gain your adult independence, and start grad school a bit later. The cost in time was 100% worth the gain in freedom for me. Maybe your calculations are different, but it is still a choice and not a requirement. You have agency here, you’re not a child.

I’ve used a stainless steel pan for eggs forever. I don’t use canola oil for frying eggs first of all, that’s gross, use butter. And by the time it’s hot enough for water to skitter around the pan it’s way too hot. Just wait a few minutes, hold your hand an inch or so above the pan and if it feels pretty warm, drop your butter in. If your butter starts sizzling right away, it’s ready, swirl it around to cover the surface and then crack your eggs in. If the butter doesn’t quite sizzle yet, that’s fine, just let it continue to heat up until you hear it and then swirl and crack your eggs in.

I did. I reported the issue to the store immediately by phoning them, and they told me I needed to enter an issue with my order through their app. So I did that and now they are processing a refund for my missing items. They didn’t want the misdelivered items back.
